They've always got Ward to fall back on in emergencies, and it frees up a spot.  Almost envious.
Anyone but Reid.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports the Oakland Raiders have traded WR Doug Gabriel to the New England Patriots. The compensation for Gabriel has not been announced yet. The Patriots, with starting WR Deion Branch in a rancorous holdout, were in the market for a receiver.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

No one cut thus far interests me much.  I'm sure Reid will go after that Buckwoldt kid, though.  BYU represent!

The Cardinals released WR Todd Watkins, so maybe Reid will pick him up and put him on the Practice Squad.

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans DL Robaire Smith has been released from the team.

Wow. Surprised to see him get cut. I wanted the Eagles to sign him after that year he had in TEN a few years ago.

HOU has signed a lot of castoffs today.

QuotePatriots | League wants to combine Branch's grievances
Wed, 6 Sep 2006 05:09:07 -0700

Michael Felger, of the Boston Herald, reports according to one of New England Patriots WR Deion Branch's attorneys, Jeffrey Kessler, the NFL filed a motion Tuesday, Sept. 5, to combine Branch's two grievances into a single one to be heard at one sitting. If the NFL wins the motion, which should be decided today, that combined grievance will be heard Sept. 14 and 15. Kessler revealed that if Branch loses both grievances, he will seek damages (through arbitration) against the Patriots for extra compensation this year. If the NFL is not granted their motion to combine the grievances, the first grievance will proceed and tentatively is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9. If the Branch side loses, they will proceed with the second grievance. The second grievance, whether it's combined with the first or remains separate, will be heard by Prof. Stephen Burbank of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Burbank was the arbiter who was set to rule on WR Terrell Owens' grievance against San Francisco in 2004 when a settlement was reached. Branch's first grievance is set to be heard by John Feerick of Fordham Law. Kessler said he doesn't know if the Patriots have continued to negotiate on compensation with the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks.

Kessler acted as Owens' attorney in his grievance 2 1/2 years ago also, so the "players" are all the same.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Oakland Raiders WR Jerry Porter is still acting out against the club in little ways. The disgruntled former starter parked his vehicle in owner Al Davis' personal parking space on Wednesday, the space that's closest to the front door of the team facility.
