There are too many damn shows to keep up with. How do you people find which ones are on when and if they're worth watching?

too many?....to me its not how to keep up with them its why would you even need a dvr to do so...even if you really liked tv i cant imagine there being at most two or three shows on tv that youd watch...tv is beyond awful

Yeah there are a ton of shows and did you not read the second part where I ask how people find which ones are worth watching? There are currently no shows on TV that I watch on a regular basis. I wonder how people find which ones are worth their time. To tell you the truth my two favorite shows were off recommendations from this board (The Wire, Breaking Bad).

my point is there arent any shows to keep up with
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

because i see shows and how bad they are...this isnt difficult stuff...doesnt take more than one episode to know if something is worth your time or not...and most shows you can see a commercial for and know whether they are good or not...shtein you can tell if most movies are gonna be good or not by seeing a trailer and movies are much more difficult to figure out than tv which is 99.9% mindless boring crap

as i said a million times before theres plenty of good tv you just need to know where to find it since its often times buried by 1000 piles of crap

you personally refuse to even watch mad men and breaking bad so i again kindly ask you to stop talking about something you clearly have no interest in because it accomplishes absolutely nothing

you are the only one watching it

get ready to say your goodbyes, sassy

I figured it was in trouble when they had an episode on Saturday, putting it head to head with the tourney.  I'll be fine though and will find another mind numbing show to occupy an hour of my week soon enough.

Quote from: Sgt PSN on March 28, 2011, 06:08:23 PMIt's simple, but entertaining.

Maybe if you didn't wallow in the cancerous blue glow of your bedroom teevee, you'd read a goddamn book or something, and not be so simple that you find trash entertaining.

Show some self respect Dynex man.

Man, you're getting all types of obsessed with what I watch and where I watch it.  I actually watch very little tv outside of sports so if I want to burn an hour out of my week watching something that's "simple" and doesn't require much brain activity then that's my perogative.  You smoke a joint, I watch a stupid show.....in bed.

MDS, you'd know this (possibly)....

Been watching Top Chef, when I can catch up on it, On Demand. Missed a couple of weeks and went to watch it the other day and its not on there anymore. Why would they suddenly stop updating On Demand with episodes mid-season? The finale of the show is coming up and I've missed the last 3 episodes. I can't even find the fargers on Hulu and I won't pay amazon or itunes to watch it....i pay Comcast for this kind of shtein.

dont have comcast and have never seen, nor will ever see, an episode of top chef

its weird that that happened. bravo is owned by nbc which comcast now owns, youd figure theyd want to pimp their stuff.

the best advice i can give you is to dvr shows so you dont have to dig for them. if you dont have one then buy one. if you dont want to do that then get out your tvguide and vcr and find out when a marathon is running. cable networks do that all the time.

you certainly dont need to defend it
but to be fair
you watch WAY MORE tv than you lead on

My gf watches a lot more than I do and she's dvr happy.....records all types of shtein and then watches like half of it.  I'm usually in the living room with her, but hardly ever paying attention to what she's got on.  Usually I'm online checking sports scores, reading various news sites or posting here.

There's really only 1 thing that I watch on a daily basis and that's the news.  Modern Family is the only show I try and make it a point to watch each week.  No Ordinary Family and Big Bang Theory I almost always dvr, but usually watch at some point during the week.  Sprinkle in a Daily Show/Colbert report here and there or maybe some Jeaporday and Wheel and that's about it.  Sure, I catch bits and pieces of other shows, but really don't like most of what I see on tv.....at least not enough to make it a point to watch it on the regular.  At most, I'd say I spend about 8-10 hours a week watching tv that isn't news or sports.  So maybe 1 - 1.5 hours a day on average.  Not really that much imo.

You have the same TV habits as my 87 year old grandmother.

Yes, but does Sarge sit there and snack on Ritz crackers and knit some scarfs too?

I love how people always feel the need to throw the age in there when making either grandparent or child references.  Like if you didn't throw her age in there, I'd assume she was in her 40's or something.

Crackers, yes.  Tomato Basil Wheat Thins to be more specific.  Knitting, no.

PhillyPhreak54

Washed down with a nice glass of Ensure too, eh?

Munson

My 88 year old grandmother drinks that stuff. Literally.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Scarves, not scarfs.
