i have no idea, but hbo and netflix dont produce the same amount of shows. netflix is trying to build up enough content where they wont have to pay XXX studio for that show that was on nbc in 2013 in order to have a full library. so for them, more is better.

There's your problem, Netflix doesn't have nearly enough XXX content.

I watched the first season of Sense8, and it was enjoyable. Different, pushing some boundaries, and kinda cool. Then I watched that horrible holiday episode they threw out...and it was beyond painfully bad. I have no real interest in watching the latest season.

ice grillin you

the problem isnt as much the networks or show producers...great shows get made all the time...its our farging society that would rather watch the 90th super hero show or dragons or vampires or outer space instead of the wire or american crime...we are so dumbed down now its depressing

if any of the shows listed in that article had good ratings they would still be around....all they care about is the bottom line and its the viewers who control the bottom line
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

People generally prefer escapist trash.  News at 11:00.

QB Eagles

Even the dumb hit shows are often losing out to reality trash and political trash, when you look at the cable ratings.

And among people under 30 it wouldn't shock me if all TV is being outdrawn by Youtube. TV's an old man's game now.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Spoiler, the stuff people are watching on YouTube is trash, too.

Oh...and why not? Please tell me.

Because you're old and white.  Think Frank Sinatra wearing a Nehru jacket.  If you know what either of those things are, don't use the word "jawn."

Just watched the Sinatra jawn on Netflix. Is dook wearing a Nehru jacket?

Kevin watching the missiles fall on his head was as spooky a scene as I've ever watched.   Holy shtein chills.

Also - it occurred to me after watching it that all the missiles that were fired were aimed at Melbourne.  I mean why so many?  Absolutely alternative reality Kevins committed suicide and the Jesus blood metaphor was as thick as a brick there.

about halfway through house of cards s4...or is it s5?

i dont even know. my god this show is terrible. its not even stupid fun anymore. its just depressingly, boringly dull. its depressing to watch. its cheap. its shot on barren sets. the lighting is terrible. nobody smiles. the characters change randomly. its not even trying to be grounded in reality or realism.

i honestly hate it and hate every single solitary character except for conway's wife who is outrageous.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I really enjoyed S1 and S2. I think I'm about 5 or 6 eps into S3 and have been stuck there for like a year. I'll finish it up eventually, but it just wasn't able to hold my attention.

PhillyPhreak54

I'm watching it now on ep3 of s5 and still enjoy it

I don't like the storyline with Claire's speechwriter boyfriend.

let me spoil it for you

they cut down on production costs in order to keep the show going so everyone could get paid...they keep padding out and extending the story....it never ends...it just keeps getting dumber...netflix wants more content and doesnt care about quality....for some reason this show has got a giant pass from the american public and they continue to watch it even though it has been atrocious for the better part of 3 years

SD

I love HOC. Political manipulation at it's finest. The scenarios and stories are ridiculous but it's the type of show I love to binge watch, then forget about it for a year, then waste two days binge watching it again once the season is released.
