I'd like to say this on the subject.

We've got a strange double standard going.  The accuser of certain crimes gets to do so in secret, without being named, if the crimes are "heinous," like rape.  We also teach kids that being raped isn't wrong, but that you were simply a victim.

If you're just a victim, then why need to hide your identity when you've been injured?  There is no similar option if you've been beaten down.  You're identity is public record.

There is an effect--though I largely agree with vigy that these particular kids are gonna be just fine, enough of this "their lives were ruined" bullshtein--however on the accused.  Too often plain old local dudes get accused of rape, or child molestation, and the victim sits back in anonymity while the frenzy ensues.

That's not right.  The law might not be NICE, but it would be fair, if accusers were required to be known from the beginning.  You were injured, come forward, be known and make your charges.   Let those charges be brought in court, etc.

Civilization.

I've been sleeping just fine.

My joy is coming from an end finally in sight to this whole bullshtein and from the bitch being called out for lying.  Racial epithets and true racism in general is abhorrent, but it is not even close to an excuse to cry rape.  Because of this Crystal Gail Mangum broad, it could lead to any number of women (especially in the Durham area and especially black women) either being deterred from telling the truth about a rape in the first place or being met with skepticism when they come to the police.

Also, Nifong deserves what he gets, because he thought this case was his ticket to the big time, and he latched on with much more gusto than the evidence allowed.

As for the formerly-accused and obviously racist players, I couldn't really care less what happens to them, especially the Finnerty kid that beat a homeless guy senseless.
