pretty amazing decision...this should open a huge can of worms

ncaa must have felt bad after they saw how much crying the duke kids did at the press conference afterwards.  jesus christ i have never seen that many tears after a mens sporting event.

ice grillin you

this is an outrageous ncaa endorsement of lack of institutional control not to mention a complete dismissal of all accountability for any of the parties involved (players, program, school)

not to mention the integrity of the game....the only people in this whole mess who bear any burden are the other lacrosse teams who imo now have to compete on an uneven playing field with duke for the next three years

i also hope that the next time another athlete is kicked off a team or suspened for a crime he didnt committ he gets his lost games back...somehow i dont think these games are given back if this is the mississippi basketball team

SunMo

they broke the rules for the Baylor basketball team

i dont really wanna get into it because the baylor siutation wasnt remotely similar to this one

i will just say that the only rule that was waived was that the players didnt have to sit out a year if they wished to transfer

yeah, they basically got an extra year of eligibility

although the situations aren't the same, you could argue that the Duke team was more deserving of their exemption they got.

no they didnt....exact same eligibility its just that they did the normal four years in four years instead of four years in five years which is what normally happens when you transfer

the duke lacrosse players are actually getting an extra year of playing time in addition to school time...essentially they are getting a free year of graduate school if they wish

what i want to know is now that all of these players are getting their time back...will they have to then serve suspensions for underage drinking....smoking weed....the verbal racial beatdown of the stripper...and everything else that came with having the party

because im pretty sure if this happens almost anywhere else the excuse for not giving them time back would be the fact that they broke numerous school and team rules in having the party in the first place

also its not just the players it has a lot to do with the school admin and the athletic department who by all accounts had lost all instutional control over the lacrosse program....and this decision actually rewards them...shocking that they are the ones that proposed it

This is the big thing and the reason that the coach got fired in the first place. Underaged drinking, hiring a stripper for a party, etc are all certainly against school/team policy. The players should have been suspended for some number of games based on those indiscretions, completely separate from the rape allegations.

and instead they were given games BACK to them

trust me im the last person that would rail against having a party...and i believe you should party in college...but at the same time the minute you decide to throw a party with multiple kegs and bags of weed and strippers and the minute you decide to attend said party you have to know that something can happen that will get you in trouble...and if and when that happens you should be accountable...these guys and the school were actually rewarded
