System of a Down, who hasn't put out a new album since 2006 with their double release Hypnotize/Mesmerize. They took a break for a while but have been touring together again for a couple years. They need to put out a new album soon.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

General_Failure

They really don't. I say that having bought those albums.

They let the guitarist sing way too much, but I thought they were pretty good. Nothing's going to live up to their S/T or Toxicity, but I imagine they still have another good album in them.

Jack Johnson is rock?

Going to Riotfest in Chicago this fall...any must see lesser known bands?

Social D is always a great show, definitely wouldn't miss them. That's a solid lineup all around.

SD

Caught Alice in Chains at Revel last Friday. Incredible as always, the accoustics at Ovation Hall are spectacular. Jerry Cantrell kept breaking into Zeppelin songs, which got the crowd pumped. Definitely one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen.

MMRBQ was pretty meh. Caught a little bit of Fuel...meh...Dropkick Murphys were good, thought they'd be better. The Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin experience was pretty cool. Caught half of Volbeat...who were actually half decent, then bounced before Rob Zombie came on at 11.

General_Failure

Volbeat's a bad that shouldn't sound okay at all, but somehow does. A Dutch metal band doing rockabilly songs sounds like a stupid idea.

Zanshin

Told my kid that I got him tickets to Jonny Lang next week and for Tom Petty at MSG in September. I think his head is going to explode. If possible, I'd think that he was older than me.

Rome

Just bagged three for The Black Keys in December.

Great seats next to the stage too.   Can't wait.

Saw Brand New at The Mann Center in Philly last night. 2nd time I've seen them, last time was back in 2007.

Never been to The Mann before, it was pretty cool. They were on the outdoor stage and it was a nice night.

One of the opening acts, Dinosaur Pile-Up, is a trio from Britain. Reminded me a lot of early 90's alt-rock/grunge. And now I look on their wiki page and they list Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Weezer among others as some of their influences. Some people here might be into them.

Brand New is goddamn awesome, but don't really think it's anyone here's cup of tea. All 4 of their albums sound completely different though so who knows.

They just released the times/days all the bands are playing for the Chicago Riot Fest. A few conflicts, but like MLK said, we shall overcome.

Diomedes

Funny, but no, MLK did not say that.
