i admittedly dont know enough about the other members to say how good they are but i do know axl was a ridiculously good front man and i think its nuts to lesen his contribution to the band

Axl, Duff, Izzy and Slash all wrote their songs.

For a rhythm guitarist, Izzy wrote a surprising amount of their stuff.

So to summarize:

Axl is a twat, but yes a great front man.
Slash was a god but is now a washed up sellout douche.
Duff was a good bassist, but still just a bassist so no one cares.
Izzy wrote some of their stuff but no one cares about rhythm guitar.

Saw The Cult last night.  The show was decent but the sound mix was laughable and the crowd was probably the lamest I've ever seen at a show.  Not surprising considering it skewed older and whiter than IGY, but still...
