Saw Flogging Molly again last night in Jacksonville.  They had $3 Guinnesses.  I think I drank all of them.

Rome

I have one and it's pretty rare that I do anything of the sort.

I make exceptions for Flogging Molly.  Never miss them when they're within a two hour drive.

Axl Rose is such a twat. Slash was a god and made GNR what it was. Of course now he's a washed up former junky who plays halftime of the superbowl so farg him, but Axl Rose was never farging anything without Slash.

Slash was farging incredible at the MMRbq, they played a ton of GNR songs. Their lead singer is better than Axl. farg Axl, his act is getting tired. You don't make fans who paid good money to see you perform wait 3 hours...that's about the biggest dick move there is.

I'm sure Slash is still a fantastic guitarist, but as soon as you share a stage with (whatever other pop douches were playing the halftime show) you can't call yourself rock and roll any more. Has been.

Slash is still a fantastic guitarist, and a bright dude.  I like him.

Duff and Izzy had a lot to do with why the og GnR was one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever.  Duff especially.

Let's not pretend like Izzy Stradlin made GNR what it was. He was a rhythm guitarist for farg's sake. He was fine and probably better than most but come on now.

Lets not put words in my mouth.

The band was more than Slash and the diva in front.

Without Duff and Izzy, it wouldn't have been great.  Especially without Duff.

No one is saying the band could have been great without Axl howling and writhing out front.

Rusty is saying the band was Axl and Slash, plus some bums.  I am saying the band was more than just those two; that Duff and Izzy played a greater role than they are often given credit for, especially Duff, whose bass stylings gave the music more bottom than anything Winger, LA Guns or any other popular rock band of the time was producing.  GnR were filthy and dangerous by comparison to the fluffer bands around them; Duff's bass was crucial to that sound.

You should go back to waxing on about forgotten rappers and your modern day Guthrie wannabe Springsteen.

IGY was partially right in that I was elevating Slash above Axl. GNR isn't GNR without either of them.

Duff, well yes, he was a damned good bassist and rounded out their sound perfectly. I wasn't totally discounting his contribution just pointing out the obvious fact that he was third fiddle by a country mile. Slash and Axl were GNR and would have been superstars together regardless of the rest of the lineup.
