First of all, I didn't wink at you, you flag.  That's a grin, not a wink.  Get your smilies straight.   :-D

Second, the team is 2.5 games out of a wildcard spot with 39 games to play.  You might have a feeling or you might be judging their chances on past history but suggesting that they're going to fail based on mathematics (scheduling, games to make up before then, etc.) is farging stupid, rjs.

Mathematically, they have 39 games to make up 3 and they're going to be playing against teams who are either horrendous or about the same record-wise as they are.

Regardless, I'm going to enjoy watching the next month and a half of the season.  Hopefully the Phillies will pull a rabbit out of their asses and make the playoffs.  After 13 years of futility, even that small accomplishment would be welcomed.

If they were pnly competing against ONE team for the wild card spot you would have a point. Barely. But instead they effectively have to outplay FIVE other teams that are within a few games of them in either direction. And they have to do that without the luxury of quality pitching. So sure, mathmatically it's possible. But it isn't likely and EVERY team ahead of them in the standings has a BETTER shot of making the playoffs, MATHEMATICALLY. It's a fact.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

PS- Smilies are the opposite of hetero.

Mathematically, Matheshmatically.  The Phillies have Jamie Moyer now and he's really old.  Which means they're going to the playoffs.  I think.

Based on what?

the standings

Yep.  The Phillies clearly have no hope considering they play exactly 1 team the rest of the way with a winning record.

Brilliant!

this post would mean something if the phils had a winning record...

No, it still wouldn't mean anything.

And your post would mean something if the team they're chasing wasn't 2.5 games ahead of them even with that losing record.

Rome

2.5 games out with 39 to play.

I know math was never my strong suit but I'm fairly certain that a team can make up two and a half games with 39 left to play, especially considering the teams they're playing are inferior to those the teams they're chasing will be playing.

I'd rather read 20 pages of FF and Romey punning than this redundant bullshtein.

QB Eagles

I believe the Reds only play one team with a winning record as well. Many of the other teams in the Wild Card hunt only play two winning teams. Since virtually the entire National League has a losing record, it's not a remarkable fact that the Phils only have to play one winning team, nor is it a big advantage over the other teams in the league.

Frankly the whole league sucks dick other than the Mets.

I would rather not think about 20 pages of puns.

The recent windstorm through the trees was an absolute debarkle.
