Burrell's top 10 "similar batters" according to baseball-reference.com:

1. Henry Rodriguez (972)
2. Tony Conigliaro (944)
3. Jim Gentile (938)
4. Paul Sorrento (932)
5. Jim Lemon (927)
6. Lee Stevens (924)
7. John Jaha (919)
8. Mike Marshall (919)
9. Ben Grieve (917)
10. Charlie Maxwell (917)

Facts:
1.  Burrell has exactly ONE season with an OPS over .900.  To compare, Mike Schmidt had four full seasons (1973, 1975, 1978 and 1988) BELOW .900.  1973 was his first, 1975 was just missed (.890) and 1978 and 1988 were both curtailed by injuries.

2.  Burrell has had ONE additional season above .850.

I don't hate Pat Burrell, but there is no doubt that he has fallen far short of his hype as a #1 pick.  He's closer to a Rob Deer than a Greg Luzinski.

Not arguing that, but like I said I dont blame Burrell for Wade's stupidity.

I would have no problem with trying to get the Red Sox or Yankees to claim Burrell off of waivers and take him for nothing by the way.

Those are PAINFUL.

Similar Batters through Age 28
Compare Stats
Tony Conigliaro (941)
Gil Hodges (940)
Nate Colbert (933)
Pete Incaviglia (929)
Jermaine Dye (928)
Bob Allison (927)
Ben Grieve (919)
Derrek Lee (919)
Jesse Barfield (919)
Danny Tartabull (918)

I like this list better.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Derrek Lee was trash at age 28.  And that list still sucks save for Gil Hodges and maybe Jermaine Dye.

ha burrell hits a double to right field

I don't understand how you cannot see that Pat Burrell has got major problems, mp.

I used to be a fan of his.

He is a soaking wet vadge. He strikes out looking too much and he has no emotion whatsoever. He walked out of the clubhouse last year on the final day of the season instead of watching the Cubbies-Stros game.

Utley extended his hitting streak to 33 in the 1st.

Patricia led off the 2nd with a double.  No doubt when people are on base with the game on the line, he'll K.

True but to be fair he was trying to get to the bar to watch the Eagles game, so...

Pat's probably a taterskin fan...

Howard knocks in 2 and that gives him 89 RBI.

Patty lines out to 3rd.

Rowand getting the IBB to load 'em up for Baberaham Nunez.

I think his strengths outweigh his weaknesses, contract aside.

When he was younger he used to slam his bat against the ground when he would strike out, if he still did that you would like him?

I need a whole lot more than percieved emotion to not like him as a player.
