Okay, now I'm confused.  What does OBP > BA mean in the context of this discussion?

He's clearly not coming through in the clutch and he's been getting pitches to hit all season long with Howard sitting behind him.

He can't play the field anymore, he's not the least bit aggressive at the plate during situations when he should be and still after almost seven years in the league chases pitches that someone of his ilk and experience should not.

Plus, he's injury prone and his attitude apparently sucks.

Yeah, I agree with IGY.  GIVE HIM A RAISE!!!!1111111111
Again I ask why runs in the ninth count more than runs in the first?

People are using his BA as an argument against him and eventhough his BA has dropped this year he has been holding his OBP close to last years meaning he has increased his walks.

I am not ready to trust Wagner about Burrell.  I always thought Wagner was angry at the world that the puberty fairy never made a visit to his voicebox.

ice grillin you

howard also played outfield in the arizona fall league for at least one season...maybe more i cant recall
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

because runs in the 9th win games

when you score in the 9th the opponent has either no outs or three outs to come back

when you score runs in the second the opponent has seven innings to come back

what do you not understand about that

I was exaggerated the Howard thing.  After his experiment with left field he told the organization he would prefer not to play left and I exaggerated it.

Lieberthal had 5 RBI's recently in a game and is thus better than Burrell.

If you dont score runs before the ninth you will most likely not be in a position to win the game in the ninth making those runs just as important.

In a 2-1 game a two run homerun in the first counts just as much as a 2 run homerun in the ninth.

I thought Lieberthal was better than him before that.

Sadly, there's more than a hint of truth in that.   :'(

so now youre changing it to if you have zero runs going into the ninth or only if its a 2-1 game with a two run homerun...sure if youre also down 13-0 late game runs dont count either...but thats not what we are talking about and you know this

as for howard in the outfield you didnt exaggerate you straight up lied about it...howard never said anything about where he would play...he tried the outfield for two full years and was a disaster there...period

youre bunkley jr....im out

Howard was worse than Burrell in the outfield.

So he has that going for him, at least.

Didn't Burrell lead the majors in OF assists one year?

ice grillin you

i dont know if he led but he had a bunch his first couple years as everyone and anyone was testing him since he was a converted 3rd baseman...to his credit he surprised a lot of people....now people run on him fairly regularly they just dont go at will anymore

basically hes a terrible fielder with an average arm

People do not run on him regularly and he has an above average arm.

Na ni na ni poo poo

Wingspan

yeah...and MVP 2005 had it so he could have gunned down anyone from anywhere in the outfield.
