The major difference so far is that Thome walks quite a big more than Howard

also the phils got rowand and two promising young pitchers...oh and the age factor...this trade looks good now it could look fantabulous in two years when thome is retired

fyi - i was talking about strikeouts looking in regards to burrell

a Jim Thome/Ryan Howard Comparison so far.  (yeah i know the coding makes the font small as shtein).  Scary how close the stats are.  1 double seperates them, 1 HR seperates them, 1 RBI seperates them, 1 strikout seperates them.  :paranoid The major difference so far is that Thome walks quite a big more than Howard and the players batting behind Thome are knocking him in more often.

G  AB  2B  3B  HR  RBI  BB  SB  CS  AVG  OBP  SLG  OPS

Ryan Howard PHI 63  232  36  68  22  54  26  64  .293  .361  .608  .969
Jim Thome CWS 60  214  52  61  21  55  46  63  .285  .418  .617  1.035

You hit it on the head about Howard's ability to get walks and low OBP but also his defense needs to improve.  I still think the Phils are better off with Rowand and Howard than Thome and Howard languishing in AAA.  I can't imagine the Phils actually getting a favorable trade of Howard last year.

yeah, no doubt about howards Defense.  It is horrid.  He must take lessons from David Bell.

talking of strikeouts... everyone always mentions the sports records that wont be broken... how about this one.   115 consecutive games without a strikout.  Joe Sewell ,Cleveland, 1929

Some updates on Kyle Drabek:
-- he hasn't signed yet, but the guy taken ahead of him did.  Our other 1st rounder (Cardenas) signed though.
-- his team won the Texas state title.  A person over on PP took a few pics  :P
-- he changed his Myspace site to private

in one of the games 2 weeks ago, they reported Burrell leading the league in 3rd strike looks, so thats what I was going with IGY.  I cant seem to break it down in Google though..

ice grillin you

its a given hes leading the league this year...i wanna know if hes gonna set an all-time single season record

a stat like that would never be anywhere but at the elias sports bureau...you wont find it on the net

Quote• Ryan Howard hit his 20th home run of the year on Monday night, in the Phillies' 57th game of the season. It's the fastest that any reigning Rookie of the Year has ever reached 20 homers. Howard broke the standard set by Mark McGwire, who hit his 20th home run in 1988 in Oakland's 59th game

Losings to the Mets generally is about as bad as it gets. So I agree.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.
