Apparently the D'Backs don't have anyone to pitch for them tonight. Probably calling someone up. Phils better be all that ass today. Anyone know who is pitching Friday against the Nats?

According to MLB.com, it's Myers vs. Tony Armas

I'm going Friday, and I'm thinking about getting tickets for Sundays game as well, just to see Hamels throw.

well lets see how the greatest pitcher ever handles a bit of a jam.

actually i was pissed at manual for taking him out when he did...let him pitch through the inning. he needs to get out of jams completely...he needs to grow.

the guy is really good...but it's time to stop babying him.

he overall needs to slow down a little...man he works really fast, the camera kept cutting to him when he was half way through his windup. good to get his 1st win though :yay

He wasn't being coddled...he was in his first game back from shoulder soreness.

hamels said himself it was not sore, he was just being precautious.

there was 2 on and 2 outs in the 6th and a 5 run lead when they pulled him after the bases were loaded with 0 outs. he was under 100 pitches (90 to be exact). wheeler tried to defend the move because "easley could pop one and make it 6-4"....meanwhile easley had been 0-2 and hit 4 HR all year.

there was no reason to not let him try and get out of the inning and then call it a night.

if he gets out of the inning, he knows he can get out of a tough jam. you're grooming him to be an ace. and an ace goes 7 or 8 innings consistantly

this guy is gonna be real good. but manual is going to make him soft if he pulls him out like that all the time. what happens if he loads the bases with no outs in the 3rd inning? pitch counts are overrated.

Hey, if you are going to skip it, I'd been interested in nabbing your tickets. Let me know if you want to part with them.

yup...there's no reason NOT to let him work out of a jamb in the 6th inning, in an early June game, up 5 runs, against a non-division team.

We all know that it doesn't matter what the pitcher SAYS he feels like. At 90 pitches and in a bit of a jam, and in his FIRST game back from the DL.....you take him out.

Unless of course, they were being careful since it was his FIRST GAME BACK from the 15 day DL.

he was on the DL due to precautionary reasons, no real injury.  and that arguement goes out the window when they let him pitch with the bases loaded and no outs in the same inning.

if he's not 100%...you dont pitch him at all. he is 100%. one more batter is all he needed to face. if anything, it builds his endurance. manual should have let him get out of the inning. it's not like there was still no outs. 2 outs with a 5 run lead and an open base is the perfect time to let him go a little further. bobby cox is a perfect example of this...he would have told the pitcher this was his jam to get out of.

no one is looking for a CG here...but he needs to get out of these things on his own. i am not blaming hamels here at all. as i have said, this kid could be one the phils finally got right. but manual is so "by the book" its frustrating.

i defended him last season, but i've seen enough of him to know he isnt improving.
