Britain pardons gay 'father of computing' Alan Turing

QuoteBritain on Tuesday granted a posthumous pardon to Alan Turing, the World War II code-breaking hero who committed suicide after he was convicted of the then crime of homosexuality.

Turing is often hailed as a father of modern computing and he played a pivotal role in breaking Germany's "Enigma" code, an effort that some historians say brought an early end to World War II.

He died in 1954 after eating an apple laced with cyanide, two years after he was sentenced to chemical castration for the "gross indecency" of homosexuality. A coroner ruled that Turing committed suicide, though this has since been questioned.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Good thing Snow White ate that apple before he started banging animals

If you don't want gay men dancing at your bar, maybe don't name it the Cactus Canyon.

"Don't bars have the right to refuse service to anyone?"

No, they don't.  Ignorant hillbilly.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

just had a straight out of the movies moment in my complex

a dude in the next building to me was holed up in his apartment with his shotgun. police were swarming. had four of five of them, guns out, ready to fire. he was evidently putting it on people and coming at people with a knife. eventually he surrendered without anything going down.

i didnt know what was going on...saw all these bright lights...walked outside and saw the cop cars...then saw a cop with his gun out hide behind this trailer in the parking lot like he was in the middle of a shootout. i turned my ass right around and went inside, locked the door, and huddled by the window to watch. i see a gun and i am OUT, thats the way its always gonna be. nothing good happens when those things are around.

Jay - check that article you posted.   You have some real winners down there flipping out calling me a homo lover, etc.

Jesus...  lol.

PhillyPhreak54

haha...hilarious.

They don't understand that you cannot discriminate. Texas! Merica!

Rome

Some of them believe it's perfectly acceptable to refuse service to anyone for any reason.  Maybe that's how it works in Texas.   Either way some if them are clearly demented.  Hysterical too.

PhillyPhreak54

They're demented. The same people who think Obama is coming for their guns.

I've now been moderated in the thread.

Hahaha!

lol...I troll the people at work from time to time. Its so easy to get them going. I will make one comment and then walk away and they stroke out.

My bad luck with technology is unreal. I'm not going to go into past detail since it would be an essay (albeit hilarious), but more fun happened today. Was attempting to drink a glass of orange juice. Picked it up, the bottom of the glass just falls off, OJ all over my mouse and phone. Both dead. Both are barely a month old, and I use a mouse because my touchpad and left/right click stopped working about a week after warranty.
