Authorities on Tuesday charged the president of the Brighton Charter School board with failing to report child- abuse allegations and tampering with a witness.

The charges stem from a case in which a teacher at Brighton Charter High School is accused of having sex with a student during a field trip. The teacher, 29-year-old Carrie McCandless, was charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. She turned herself in to authorities Tuesday and posted bond.

Brighton police spokesman John Bradley said Tuesday that charter president David Mundy, 53, is accused of failing to comply with a state law requiring school officials to report allegations of child abuse to police.

Bradley said police learned about the allegations against McCandless on Nov. 1 and police opened an investigation on Nov. 3. The assault allegedly happened in late October.

"So it was fairly obvious that we needed to start investigating to see whether (school officials) met their responsibilities," Bradley said. Authorities would not specify what led to the tampering charge.

Terry Gogerty, who founded the charter school but is no longer affiliated with it, said he spoke to Mundy after the McCandless allegations emerged.

"He told me that he had legal counsel throughout the process and believed he was following the advice of legal counsel," he said. Mundy declined comment.

This is the latest trouble for the charter school.

On Oct. 23, Mundy's son, 31-year-old David Mundy Jr., a former substitute teacher at the school, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual contact and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allegedly kissing and fondling one of three teenage girls at his home in December 2005. Mundy Jr. was no longer a substitute at the high school at that time, but authorities said he had met one of the girls at the school.

McCandless is the wife of Brighton Charter's principal. She is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old male student while on a weekend field trip. She has been fired.

Why all these cases of teachers farging students now? Where were these promiscuous ones when we were in school?

Sgt PSN

I dunno about you Phreak, but most of my lady teachers looked like Janet Reno and I'm quite pleased to say that none of them tried to sleep with me.

I think in all my years of edumacation, I had one, maybe two, teacher worthy of it. Both incidences went unreported, but you get the idea. They wanted it, and I gave it to them.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

My health and spanish teachers were hot. I used to spend the entire spanish class mentally undressing her. My buddy learned how to say "Hi, would you be interested in intercourse with me" and he said it to her. He got suspended.

Ha.  There were plenty of promiscuous whores, Jay.  I worked at a bar during my senior year and would see them stumbling in and out of the place with students all the time.  The drinking age was 19 at the time, of course, and students having sex with teachers wasn't such a big f'ing deal back then.

My Algebra teacher was the only teacher I had that was do-able.  She was kind of plain jane pretty but she had dirty blonde hair and sexretary glasses.  She also wore a lot of those white button up shirts that were slightly see thru and showed off her bra.  :drool

Ms Gunning Freshman/Sophomore years.  She had D's and showed them off.  Her ass would wiggle when she wrote in the chalkboard.  Always wore tight fitting pants or skirts with at thong.  She had a habit of dropping pencils/pens/chalk and bending over to pick them up, and she always had the top buttons opened or just shirts that were open at the top  :yay  She definitely was into teasing us.
