I'm scheduled for Lasik eye surgery next week. Anyone here have it done? My eyes without lenses are terrible, so even worst case it has to be an improvement. Just wondering what the experience was like for anyone else who might have done it.

I know that's been a life changer for a lot of people, but something about laser+my eyeball that makes me uncomfortable. Good luck! (That's what they say before you go under the knife, right?)

I've been thinking about doing it for years, and the time never seemed right. My brother is friends with the Head of Ophthalmology at Columbia, and he recommended a surgeon that's literally walking distance from my house. shtein aligned, so I did the evaluation and made the appointment.

If my eyes were naturally mediocre, I don't think I'd do it...but they're pretty terrible without lenses, so I figure it'll have to be better. My eyes seem to tolerate contact lenses less and less every year. I always seem to get eye infections from them now. And my prescription makes it tough to get certain frames in glasses, which I hate wearing anyway. So, no brainer. Cost is less than I expected, too, so, farg it.

People that I know who have gone through the procedure, swear by it.

That procedure has been going on now (mainstream) over 15 years now...so I think they should have it 'down' by now. Hopefully all goes well. You'll be like Superman (previously clark kent). No one will be able to recognize you.
