Damn...I started reading some on it last night and can't get over the car being on the tracks. I do not farg around at train crossings. There is one on my way to the office where people stop on top of the tracks all the time.

The driver should have left the car there and walked away once she realized it was stuck. And how did it get stuck on a flat crossing? It doesn't look like the tracks stick up to cause a bump or catch on something and even if they did the ride height of an SUV should be enough to clear it.

The local news has the interview up online but it's behind a paywall. THere was a long line of traffic because of a detour and the barriers closed up on her while she was in line. She actually got out, tried to move the barrier so she could move her car, it wouldn't budge, and she got back in and floored it to try and get out of the way.

People stop on the tracks all The time in the towns I work on Long Island. It's unbelievable.

There was another woman who interviewed on TV from one of the middle train cars. She said they heard a crash, felt a jolt, and then nothing for 10 15 minutes until they smelled smoke. Said she was freaking  out because they didn't know what to do, how to get out of the train, whether they'd climb out the window and maybe slip into a stream, it was terrifying. "We're all New Yorkers so we felt trapped, you know, like 9/11 trapped" which was the point where I started yelling at the tv. Get some perspective lady

took the foreign service test today. was about 3 1/2 hours. didn't study at all.

was pretty hard but I don't feel too bad about it. not nearly as impossible as some of the stories i've read about it.

its not unbelievable...it happens a billions times a day all over the country and a few people die a year...same thing as people walking across railroad tracks...one in a million die...they are called accidents....the problem here isn't stopping on railroad tracks its watching local news and thinking its the most dangerous thing ever

No. Has nothing to do with watching the news and forming an opinion off it, thinking it's dangerous. It has to do with not being a farging idiot - it's the the same thing as pulling into an intersection before you can clear it and then block traffic because your lane stops moving. its just stupid.

Yes bro but the point is, peoples stupid.  They gonna do stupid shtein predictably.  At grade railroad crossings are about ass smart as rating agencies bring paid by the people the rate.  Recipe for disaster.

Why can't they just make better brakes for the trains to stop the hundreds of tons of freight or passengers so people aren't inconvenienced?

The man. The myth. The legend.

Houston people, especially ones on my road, are the kings at that. Pull into an intersection or block an entrance because leaving a small amount of space or waiting an extra 30 seconds is too much to ask.

train/car accidents are a slightly more important issue than beyonce putting satin into our kids hearts

If you intentionally park on railroad tracks, you deserve your fate.

And honestly the world could do with fewer people like that anyway.
