Anyone here collect old guns? My grandfather left my son a Colt 45 peacemaker. I think it's an army issue because it has US stamped on it and looks like the butt was swapped out for an ivory handle with a longhorn steer carved in it.

Rick from Pawn Stars told me that swapping the handle makes the gun worth much less to collectors.

And then Chumlee shot himself in the face with it.

Thats what I had originally thought. But, the fact that it has US stamped on it probably makes it a military issued firearm. The Army and Navy swap out parts with a lot of their guns to make it an original. That, and the fact it's either ivory or mother of pearl makes me thing it could have been an officers gun, but I have yet to see one like it anywere. Maybe you have Rick's number?

I saw the episode a while ago, but a guy brought in his dad/granddad's gun from WWII.  It was military issued, but the handle was now like a deer horn or something.  Rick said that if it had the original army issued handle it would have been more collectible.  In WW2 a lot of soldiers switched out the handle to make their gun unique to them. Anyway, obviously I'm going off of what I remember from Pawn Stars, so my opinion is pretty worthless.

I don't know what this relates to, but it's probably one of the funniest posts I've read here.

I'm looking into buying a camcorder...budget is around $400...looks like HD is the way to go...does anyone have any recommendations on brand? Sony, Canon, GoPro, Panasonic?

Most likely, I'll be buying from BestBuy or Costco....just wanted to get your takes.

They are all pretty much the same. Since they're all digital anymore you have to make sure that the camera exports the movie files out in a format that can be read by the software you want to use to edit/transfer to dvd.

I bought a Mino HD.  It's about the size of a flip phone.  Holds an hour of video, and has a UBS port for downloading the stuff to a computer.
Originally designed for the YouTube crowd, but works nice, and it's only about $150.
