matty have you looked into philly/dc/balt to cincy for the road trip

nah it looks to be only like a 5 hour drive from dc.  flying really wouldn't save more than an hour or two tops.

caravan FTW

its more than 5 tho...closer to 7.5 or 8

i miss the days of $39 each way from orlando to philly.  i doubt i'll be able to find a flight for the home opener for less than double that this year.

only if jessica alba accompanies me up and back.

shtein you're right.  apparently theres a cincinnati with two t's in it thats only 5 hours away.

Part of the fun of doing a roadie is the drive there.  The drive back usually sucks, whether it's because the eagles lost or I'm hungover as hell.  But I'd rather drive 12 hours for a roadie than fly...
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Rome

mapquest says 8 hours, 44 minutes.

you could probably do it in five, though.  just drive 100 mph the whole way!

i took the train from orlando to atlantic city once.  i started drinking around jacksonville, florida and got so farged up that i didn't wake up until we pulled into wilmington, de.

best way to travel is roughly at three times the legal bac limit.

i feel like it's the exact opposite.  i can usually fly to Vegas or LA or San Fran for less than 300 from any of the DC airports.  next week I have to fly into knoxville and my ticket is almost 900.  i've flown there several times and have never gotten a ticket less than 600.  from my experiences and flying for work a lot the last few years, the smaller airports are much more expensive because there are a lot less flights and you have less options, meaning they can charge more.

no question...I just tried and book a flight for work from here in Philly to Charlottesville VA and its $982

I didn't pay that much going from Brisbane, QLD to Philly.

In a blender.

i took the train to chicago from philly once to go see the cubs and phillies play at wrigley the summer after high school.  that was a fun trip too.  i'm not completely anti-train, but with the way air travel is today, it just doesn't make sense to use them for long distance travel.

my mom did the cross country trip from philly to san francisco about 15 years ago and dug it immensely, though.  she said traveling by train is the only way to go for trips like that.   personally, there's no way i could do it.
