i think this is the type of thing where if he performs to what they think he can, they would extend him in the middle of the year, but if he flops and can't do what they thought, they aren't tied to him for more than this season.  i think he's unknown to some extent due to the slop he was playing with.
Pretty much. Couldnt have said it better.

that would make more sense if Reid didnt run the most complicated WR scheme in the history of football.   Wilbur has had 3 season to learn this shtein.

He played for the Texans. Who would you throw money at from that team?

I'm curious if anyone has considered whether Gaffney & Rosenthief preferred the one year deal over a multi-year gig?

It's entirely possible that after the disaster of playing in Houston, Gaffney's simply trying to re-establish his true market value and the only way of doing that is by signing a one-year deal in hopes of having a breakout season and eventually a big payday.

Bingo, Rome. A one-year contract with a pass-whacky team where he is almost guaranteed to start and get lots of opportunities. Further to my point about how he isn't in the team's long-term plans, and they aren't in his.

I agree. If Rosenskin if half the agent he thinks he is, there is no way he lets Gaffney sign a minimal 3-4 year contract at this point. It wouldn't be in the best interest of either the team or player at this time to do so.

neither rosenhaus or any other agent is dictating terms to the eagles front office...the eagles sign who they want for what they want or they dont sign him

not to mention an agent would have to be an idiot to turn down guaranteed money for a small one year lottery ticket...they just wouldnt do that...if he could have gotten two or three years he would have absolutely been all over it...gaffney is still only 27/28 at the end of a deal like that

the eagles offense may be pass happy but its also spread it around to 12 different guys happy...trust me no one is getting numbers in this offense that they can parlay into some kind of big deal next year

If Gaffney has a very good year he'll be re-signed.

Again though, hopefully we aren't done at WR for the year. I'd even take a first day draft pick at this point. Have 3 young guys to build around. This draft doesn't have a Braylon Edwards, or a Larry Fitzgerald, but it has a lot of solid receivers that will go from the mid first round to the 3rd round.

If Eagles can get one of those I'd be happy I suppose.

Also I don't know if this was mentioned in this topic, but it's on PE.com

Gaffney, who measures 6 feet 1, 205 pounds, is on vacation at the moment. Gaffney is the cousin of Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard, and the two are very close.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Two new receivers and three on the roster they still like. Pushing for Moulds or Walker depends on Pinkston right now.
