Havas, i'm not sure if Fios will get it, but its an option to them, and i imagine you guys have CSN Chicago and others, you should have CSN Philly as an option once they start negotiations

Sarge, you could technically just call and change your service address to your parents place in philly, and you would get CSN Philly with all the sports, the drawback being you wouldnt get your local cali news.  Positives are you'd get every phillystation Fox/NBC/CBS/MYPHL17 and you'd be able to watch all the birds games

That's an interesting idea.  Not all that concerned about losing local news coverage be ause the LA news channels are just a shade above tabloid tv programs like TMZ. So I barely watch them anyway.  However, I would think that the major drawback to picking up all the Philly affiliates is that I'm 3 hrs behind so all of the primetime shows that I like would be starting at 5pm.

Yeah, that would obviously work.  Thinking about it a little more though, if I called and gave them a new address, wouldn't they want to set up a new installation?  Not to mention that I know they code the receiver cards with the service zip code, so if I had a 19XXX zip, how would it even work living in Cali?

Do you know anyone that's actually done this?

Seabiscuit36

well, you could get it setup in Cali, then say you moved to philly a month later.  My address is setup in Havasland so i can watch the flyers and not get blacked out.  There used to be a ton of people that woudl just change their address every sunday to philly stations so they could watch the birds.  The only thing is dish position, and i'd ask an installer if its possible, as i dont know what satellites you'll have to hit off in cali compared to philly.

i realize none of you ever lived in philly for more than 30 seconds but csn sucks. dnl sucks. the post game shows suck. the eagles post game is alright but 99% of the time win or lose eagles games arent worth rehashing.

they are good for showing games which this csn cant do so that defeats the entire purpose.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Munson

Most people would rather watch people talking about strictly Philly sports then watch ESPN pick and choose the same stars to talk about every day/night.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

MDS

yea, you really need to hear phil martelli break down the sixers and al morganti whine something incoherently about hockey. plus lets not forget how sharp ricky bottalico is.

just like espn was a terrible network before they got actual games csn is a terrible network when they are not showing games or the best damn countdowns. which are awesome because lists are king and sports lists with old highlights are the greatest thing ever.

haven't actually seen csn in probably 2 or 3 years so i looked at their lineup and noticed that cataldi no longer has his show.  lolololol.  when did they finally wise up and pull the plug on that travesty?

Like 5 years ago.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

QuoteComcast Won't Challenge FCC's Closing of Terrestrial Exemption
Roberts reserves right to "defend" company if complaints should be filed
By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 3/16/2010 9:32:01 PM
Comcast has pledged not to challenge the FCC's tightening/closing of the terrestrial exemption last fall, either at the FCC or in the courts.

That was the word from Comcast Chairman Brian Roberts in written answers to various Senate Judiciary Committee members, according to a copy of the those answers.

That followed a hearing last week in the committee on the proposed Comcast/NBCU joint venture.

In a response to Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.) when asked whether he would promise not to appeal it in either venue, Roberts answered "yes" to both. He also said he would not urge "any trade group to which you belong" to challenge it, though he said Comcast would not try to prevent it from doing so.

Roberts said he wanted to put those answers into context. While he said Comcast had decided not to appeal the order, he "reserved the right to defend ourselves if any complaints should be filed."

He also defended the exemption, saying that "Congress believed, and it turns out to have been correct, that not applying program access rules to terrestrially delivered programming would promote the development of local and regional programming."

He also pointed out that there is only one Comcast-affiliated network across its 39-state footprint that the company has not made available to all competitors--Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, and that it is ready to do so as soon as DirecTV relinquished its exclusive access to NFL Sunday Ticket.
I cant believe Roberts is still sticking to the NFL ticket thing?  He lost out on bidding for the ST since he didnt put up as much cash as DTV.  I'm shocked that he keeps using this, but i guess thats all he has

WTF :boom why Philly you fargin asshat

Seabiscuit36

its very simple, Philly is the home of comcast and has been sheltered by paid off politicians for years.  It took new FCC chairman to get to this point, and now that the loophole is close, Philly will no longer be comcast country, as Verizon and Satellite get a huge chunk of subscribers once they can get CSN Philly
