yeah im not sure.  Someone I know had 40 year old virgin in the que and it said "very long wait" for over a month.  They decided just to go to the store and rent it instead.

i dont see how thats not a netflix screw up

could be though, i've never missed out on a movie for a month, at most a week or so. never had to wait a month. you can put a movie in your queue almost as soon as a release date is announced, so that could be why as well.

either way, i like netflix, and have been happy with the service for quite a while now, and dont really ever plan to patronize blockbuster again.

They use their ginormous size to essentially force manufacturers into giving them deep pocket discounts other retailers can't get.  They move into small markets and basically force all their competition out of business by offering prices no one can compete with.

Also, the Canadian legal system found that it was illegal for Wal-Mart to prevent their workforce from unionizing.  Wal-Mart's response?  They closed the store.

Not a nice company.  Plays by China's rules in the US.  Clever, but evil.

So they maximize their profits and expand their business. HMMMM.......that's not evil, that's American.

Yet when China does this and takes all of our manufacturing out of the country, it's an uneven playing field. HMMMMM....

I used Netflix a long time ago, and I did like it. But the family made a lot of noise about wanting to go to the video store and pick up movies without having to plan ahead. So I dropped Netflix. We now have the Movie Pass (and a Game Pass) thing at Blockbuster. Certainly not the selection of Netflix, but the relative immediacy is a good thing.

Update:  I got 1 of the 3 DVD's from Blockbuster today (next business day).  All 3 they shipped yesterday DVD's that are being released today, so they might not have them at all their distribution centers yet.

The one I got was shipped from Gaithersburg, MD.  Most of my Netflix DVD's are shipped right from Raleigh.

That makes sense.  You live in MD.  I don't.

I live in the Bronx.  When I was on Netflix, all my discs came from their Gaithersburg plant.

I don't know how long ago that was, but their distribution centers have multiplied like rabbits in the last year or so.

Tell the truth Dio.  You live in Bronxville, but call it the Bronx.
