Esche USED to be good? So just a few games into the season, where he's been hurt most of it, is enough to base that assumption that he is "no longer good?"

Esche carried this team with Kapanen having to go back on Defense in 2004. ITs not like there was another season between then and now to make some sort of CHANGE in that view.

Nitty has been great, of course! Only an icehole wouldn't see that.

But to say Esche isn't capable of putting together a string of games like that (as we've SEEN HIM DO IN THE PAST) is preposterous.

i remember 2004 just like everyone else.  esche was adequate.  the position is definitely up for upgrade if the opportunity arises though.  if he keeps on his pace i dont see how you can replace him with esche who hasn't shown much of anything after a years lay off.  its usually what have you done for me lately. you can't live off of 2004 memories for very long.  he's always made some great saves. then given up some really really easy goals.  you can't live like that if your going to make another honest attempt at the cup this year.

Rome

Nitty's been pretty damn consistent this year.

As far has him never having won a Cup, that's true, but he did win the Calder Cup last year, and although the leagues are different and all, he still won the thing and that speaks volumes about the kid.

As for Esche, IMO, he's an average NHL goalie.  No more, no less.  I don't see him as being the kind of guy who can win four straight playoff series for you.  I don't know if Nitty is either but I know for sure that Esche isn't.

Hard to believe Therien is now tied for 5th with Bob Kelly and Rick MacLeish for all-time games played as a Flyer (741) and only needs 5 more to tie for 4th...

jeffreyjpa

Yeah, and Reno Mahe leads the NFL in punt return yardage...

Ed, you're having a big day pointing out positive stats for "the Philadelphia fans' whipping boys", aren't cha?    :D

If only Bundy were Mormon...

Heck, Therien doesn't hit any harder than Simoneau, either.

6-1 on the record road trip, 5 games going to overtime.  awesome.

and they will pay back the caps tonight.  i'll be there.

I got up to take a leak at the end of regualation, come back and the games over.

Its actually 6-0-1. The only loss was a SO loss and they still gained a point with it, so its not really a LOSS loss.

:-D Ain't that the truth?

I was just settling down to watch the overtime (was tearing down Christmas decorations  :'() and didn't even have the chance to get comfortable.

Great goals by Gagne and Johnnson.
