The penalties are out of control. I miss the old hockey. It was just better.

Yeah, it was SO Great the past 10-15 years with the clutching and grabbing.  ::)

If you didn't know going into this season that the penalties were going to be called nonstop to start the year, then you're ignorant. As SD said (and I've said a million times), once the players know what will and will not be called consistently, they will keep testing the barriers.

If you don't have the patience, go watch something else. Just quit yer bitching.

Even with the penalties, the new NHL is just better.  Under the old rules, if Jersy gets a 2-0 lead in the first period, the game is over.  You can only watch the neutral zone trap for so long before your eyes start to bleed.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Yup, they're finally enforcing the clutching and grabbing (especially in the neutral zone) that made the old NHL so boring. After a while the players will get the hint and the refs will back off a little. You've got to give it to the refs for enforcing it early despite the crap around the league they're probably getting.

Funny IGY, you don't mention Nitty's game much in your post.

whats to mention...the guy is a back-up goalie with hopefully an nhl future...not sure what you want me to say

as for the new nhl...i agree it sucks right now but what it looks like now is meaningless...its what we have to put up with now that hopefully will lead to what the game really should be at some point later in the season

Bring up Umberger  :yay

From AP/Yahoo:

QuoteGeneral manager Bob Clarke said he has no of trading to acquire a veteran and will not call up a replacement from the AHL because of salary cap considerations. The Flyers will carry only 12 forwards into Saturday's game at Toronto.

who made the schedule? why do the flyers have a week off in between games and why are they in toronto again?
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Slovaks love shirts around the waist.   :-D  Theres some pretty good pics on the Flyers website of the team building trip to Westpoint.

I dislike how the goalies just start chatting with each other without throwing down.
