We lost eight games by an average of 2.5 points.  We don't have to be much better to make the playoffs.  I still view Philly as the best team in the NFC and I think you guys have what it takes to win it all this year but I don't see why we can't easily be a wild card this year.  Let's just wait and see what happens.

Sorry, I got a little riled up and cranky in my first post.  Just don't hold the taterskins fans responsable for the actions of Dan Snyder.  A lot of us don't like him either.  Joe Gibbs is trying to undo the damage but he has obviously hurt us a lot with his big spending.  The team will be a lot better this year as now Gibbs has had a year to get the personnel he wants around him.  The D will still be good and the offensive scheme has changed.

There are a lot of close games in the NFL.  The good teams win more of them than they lose.  Honestly, I think any other team in the NFC East might have the goods one way or another to make a wild card run this year, but you can't blame us as Eagles fans for thinking a wild card run is unexciting.  I just don't think the Skins, specifically, are good enough to string together wins against top teams.

I know Dan Snyder has made you all cranky, but I still don't think Joe Gibbs 100% "gets it" in today's NFL.  It was his call to make the deal for Campbell, which was just completely bone-headed all around.

You may be making a wild card run yourself, no?

No, we won't.

That would require another team in the NFC East winning 11+ games at a minimum, which is not going to happen.

Your secondary is slightly overrated as well, decent, but overrated.

Our best cornerback didn't make the Pro Bowl, and he was the only one who didn't.  With the amount of blitzes Johnson runs and how often the DB's have to cover man-to-man, they do an amazing job.  If anything, the secondary is underrated because of how often they're left on an island.

But you wouldn't know that.  You think Shawn Springs + Sean Taylor = one of the best secondaries in the NFL.

You don't agree Taylor Is one of the top safeties in the league? Man, you're just hatin now

PoopyfaceMcGee

I agree Taylor is excellent, and I agree Springs is servicable when he stays healthy.  The issue is that there is another starting CB spot, and neither Carlos Rogers or Walt Harris scare me.  Also, who's playing the other Safety spot, and does it matter?  The Eagles secondary is also deep, with Rod Hood and Matt Ware playing in nickel/dime situations, and Quentin Mikell playing a 3rd Safety spot in goal-line.  Mikell would start for the taterskins.

That was a well thought out, intelligent post full of all types of fun facts and figures.  Unfortunately you negated all of that with this craptastic finish:

You may say I'm clinging onto history but I don't think so.  Right now, in the present, you guys can't win despite being rated as the best team in the NFC every year.  What's up with that guys?  You're not even the Buffalo Bills!  At least they MADE it to the SB four times in a row.  Last year you doubled your total of SB appearences.  Face it, you can't win when it's important, can you, and that just makes you the most visable losers in the country.  Every year, everyone in the country points and laughs at you because you always fail on the biggest stage.  Every year, we are the offseason winners WHILE YOU ARE THE POSTSEASON LOSERS! :-D  And yet, you're so proud of yourselves.  Awesome, you guys are $15 million under the cap, good job.  Why don't you stop being so damn cheap and try to actually win sometime!  Being cheap isn't something to be proud of.

In fact, now I understand why you like to point and laugh.  It's because you're so insecure with yourselves.  You can't actually win the big one so instaed you need to laugh at organizations who have to make yourselves feel better about your ultimate failure.

So if you're done, go back to rooting for your incompetant owner, passed him prime coach, talentless offense, pathetic excuse of a team.  The season hasn't even started yet and it's already over for the Skins.  Man.  That's gotta suck.

The rookie Rogers will be starting at other qb, we may be xposed there, Bowen the other starting safety. Our D is not our problem. Can we agree the Skins may get in the playoffs as wild card, or are you writing them off?

4.  The taterskins have sold out every game for the last 38 years, the longest streak in the NFL, and they do it with by far the biggest stadium in football.  Your arguments about 'Skins fans make no sense.  If someone supports their team they're a blind homer but then if they sell their tickets they aren't real fans.  Wow, great logic there.

I lived in DC for most of my adult life and after college I went to a whole lot of taterskins games (and every game that the Eagles were in town for after college) and I can say without one shred of hyperbole that Redksins fans are not filling the stadium week after week. No stadium in the entire league is as freidnly to visiting fans as FedEx Field. When the Eagles were in town you could hear Philly fans over the Skins fans every single year. Pittsburgh fans are the same. In fact, the only games I ever went to where the visiting fans weren't louder were games that the skins were playing against other non playoff-bound teams.

All of this back and forth is ridiculous. The skins have done nothing to prove they can challenge for the NFC East. In fact, they've done nothing to prove they can challenge for a winning season. Your preseason stats seem to be your only proof positive that they have improved offensively and, call me crazy, but in Spurrier's first preseason the taterskins lead the world in yards and points and meaninglessness. Anything can happen from year to year in the NFL but I and the rest of the football world would be stunned if the taterskins even fight for .500 this year.

Except those back-to-back plays where Rogers was tired and he got beat he has been incredible in the preseason.  He is going to be a great player.  It doesn't matter who our other safety is, we have a lot of depth at that position.  In fact, I would say that we probably have the third best unit in the league behind Baltimore and then Philly.

I write them off every season, and every season they prove me right. This season? You guessed it, I'm writing them off. Feel free to bump this thread if by some miracle you make the playoffs.

I am a firm believer in karma, what comes around goes around, hope I see you on the flip side. Your team is 1 injury away from being worse than ours ::)

I agree the Skins can do it, only because the last couple NFC spots went to bum teams with no chance to advance last year, and that could end up happening again.  The taterskins aren't a real contender, but with some luck, almost any team could MAKE the playoffs.

That said, I wouldn't put money on it.

After one season you're trying to say that Taylor is one of the best in the league?

Jesus, I'm not getting involved in this anymore. I clearly overestimated your ability to reason and make logical points.

That's because Spurrier played the starters so long, he just loved piling on.

Which 1 injury would that be? We've made the post season without McNabb/TO/Westbrook. Please elaborate.
