Oh no...injury news

I just can't see Reggie getting to start immediately.  Greg has earned the right to do so, even if he's the slot guy in 3 WR sets.  Reggie will probably play the outside in 3 WR sets but NOT start, barring injury. ( :evil football gods  :evil)

Pinky going out hurts depth, but isn't all that bad.

CBuck going down for the season might just be a matter of time.

Can Lewis stretch defenses with speed like Pinky did? (when he could get past the initial bump anyway)

I'm glad C-Bucky is fine. I think we need depth at the RB position more so than the WR position. Greg Lewis will do a great job in my opinion, and Reggie Brown hopefully will learn quick. He seems like a smart young man who has the ability to catch on relatively quick.

So, assuming Greg is #2, we then have Reggie #3, and probably McMullen at #4 (I don't see Reid giving up on him, considering his seeming patience with WR's over the years - like Pinkston originally, Gari Scott in particular)

That is, of course, if we don't bring someone in. I wouldn't mind bringing Peerless in if he eventually gets cut. He flourished in a #2 role up in Buffalo because he's good for what Pinkston is good for - running down the field as fast as he can and making big plays. Pinkston and Price are in the same mold, although Pinkston is taller. However, I think Peerless has greater big play ability and might be able to make people miss more than Todd.

My concern with bringing in any WR through free agency is the ability for them to learn the system in order to make any real impact. Love him or hate him Pinkston knew the system extremely well and that helped out everyone else to get open and make plays.

Also, who really cares what the depth looks like past the #3 WR. Did our 4th and 5th make any real type of impact last season? The Eagles have enough weapons with Westy lining up outside or in the slot and LJ taking up the middle. LJ is going to be vital this year though, especially since he doesn't have Chad backing him up.

I hate to see Todd go down because of depth reasons. I think Greg Lewis has better big play potential than Pinkston, but I would rather Lewis win the job outright then get it by default due to injury.

The Eagles just have to keep it interesting...

By the way C-Buck told me that he had a quick visit with Mary Jane and she took care of all that ails em'.  ;D

You know though.

I am saddened by the loss of Pinky.  Im not a fan but he is what he is.  A deep threat to pull a S/CB deep and open up the underneath to other WRs/TEs/RBs.

pinky is one of the softest players i've ever seen...the panthers nfc champ game showed it...the alligator arms play from last season showed it...but most of all, his entire career has shown it.  he's an average starting wr, at best.  whenever he made a nice catch, i was surprised...that shouldn't be the case.
that being said, losing any starter hurts the team....i think g-lew will step in & do well but, as many have said, it's the #3 guy who will be a big question mark.
reid won't throw big $$$ at a replacement...if he picks up anyone, it will be the wr equivalent of what levens was last year.

I've been naming names. Whether my names were realistic or not, I tried to think of some people. Does anyone have any names on their minds?

I feel bad for Pinky.. he always catches a bad rap with the Eagles' fans and he's not totally deserving.  Sure he's had his moments like the "I lost focus" or the "I lost it in the lights" comments.  But he was a solid #2 option last year and led the NFC with yards per catch at like 18.  He's always the scapegoat on the team, and now that he's injured, everyone is just like "oh well, who cares, its pinkston."  While I think Greg Lewis will fill in fine at the #2 spot, what do we do about the slot??? Is Reggie Brown ready to come in and play already, or are we going to end up missing Pinkston for once in our lives?

Irving Fryar's been at camp. I'm just sayin' ...

Allow me my negadelphia moment as I plot the chances of Buck being hurt this year. Certianly I hope I never see Levens in an Eagles Uni again but... I'm just sayin!!

So....did anyone point out that PFT was right for once?  :paranoid [/blind squirrel]

They've actually become on of the sites that I check out everyday now. I used to think the guy who runs it was just out to start shtein and it looked that way early on, but he's been getting stuff right lately.

He was the one who pointed out that thing about Westbrook having to report by August 8th or lose the UFA next year...
