Derek Lowe.......Depodesta actually might have done two things right!

3 hitter....great game last night...even if I did only manage to catch 3 innings.....I lost three innings looking for parking and trying to exchange my pavilion tickets for reserve lever/beer drinking allowable section..... :'(

I think if Lowe can stay healthy he'll have a very good season in the pitcher friendly Chavez Ravine.
He may have a few more UNearned runs score against him than most, but I think he'll still have a good year.

Hey HB, do you know if todays game against the Brewers is on TV?

hbionic

They usually show them on Fox sports west. Check it out.

I'm stunned to see all the interest in the Dodgers, with the usual Lakers playoff run n'all.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

hbionic

OMG....Dodgers rally from a 6 run deficit and come back in the top of the 9th to tie with two outs and win with a two run blast in the top of the 10th! Sweet! :yay

Go Dodgers! :yay :D

Just heard a very cool version of the Kirk Gibson home run in the world series by Tommy Lasorda on the phone to the local radio station...

Apparently, every inning....Lasorda would go and check in on Gibby.....Lasorda would ask if he was ready to go...but Gibby would give him a thumbs down.

When the Dodgers got off the field, one of the trainers said that Gibby wanted to see him in the tunnel. Gibby told Lasorda that he felt like he could hit for him. So, Lasorda turned around so he wouldn't change his mind and went into the dugout.

The due up was Mike Sciosa, Alfredo Griffin then the pitchers spot. Lasorda had originally told Mike Davis that he was going to hit for the pitchers spot but he put him in for Griffin instead...leaving the pitchers spot for Gibson.

Gibson wanted to go to the on-deck circle while Davis was up to bat...but he said that if he put him up there, that they would have pitched Davis differently. The previous year, Davis had hit 20+ home runs for the A's....so, they walked him hoping they would get some other pinch hitter......they were mortally wrong.

They then took the other scrub off the on deck circle and announced that Gibson was coming up to bat....Lasorda said that the crowd was suddenly electrified. Lasorda had goosebumps.....

...well...you all know the rest! ;D

Listening to that almost made my eyes watery. I only wish I had the chance to be at the stadium when it happened....but I do remember being in San Diego in front of my uncle's television set when that happened.....I'll never forget that!

I can remember watching that game (I was a senior in high school at the time and still had erroneous aspirations of being a professional ballplayer).  Even though I was not a Dodger fan, I was a big fan of Gibson from his days with the Tigers in '84.  That was one of the most incredible non-Phillie baseball experiences I have ever had.

RomeyRome

I found the game on TV, but it wasn't on FSN2.  I know 90% if the games are on UPN 13 or FSN2, but that day it wasn't.  If you have DirecTv they have this "alternate" channel on 650 that showed the Dodger game that day, and it will be on 650 again today.

Oh and BTW, this Charlie Steiner SUCKS.  Bring back Porter!!!

Go Valentin! Man...I love how this team is coming together...every night, its a different hero....great outing by Lowe...again!

Penny coming back Sunday.....man....this is too good. I hope that this is more an example of what is to come more than a lucky streak...although the pitching has been excellent......so.....it's really isn't the latter.

Go Dodgers!

:yay Erickson pitches tonight though.  :paranoid

They haven't played that much quality opposition, but hey they are beating the teams they are supposed to beat if they are going to make a run at the NL West title.

hbionic

Quality Opposition? Who? Braves? They lost to the Nationals.....

Phillies? Nothing to write home about.

Cardinals. Always a threat, but not the same team.

Houston? Not the same team.

Mets? We'll see...but have been inconsistent.

Marlins are a legit threat,

Mets, Marlins and Braves are the ones we have to worry about.  Padres if they could hit, Giants if they weren't old and had barry.  Reds always give us a hard time.

Anyways, we handle our division first then we take care of non-divisional opponents. Win'em in April so you don't have to in September.  8)
