Just picked up Ninja Gaiden 2, it's pretty good so far. The camera angles are annoying though.

Don Ho Jr. has already beat the game.

it's hilarious when some of his buddies come over and he breaks out GTA4 and they all go ape shtein becasue their parents won't get it for them.  no wonder they all love me.

Bioshock has much better graphics, the story line is great and long, its a shooter, and is a lot of fun to play. After you're done you can go through it again as a bad/good guy. You'll easily log 25-30 hours worth of gaming time.

Mass Effect has average to below average graphics but is also a lot of fun to play. The main quest will only take 15-20 hours. There are a ton of side quests and I'd recommend doing them all. If you do all of the side quests you'll probably log 30-40 hours when all is said and done. Mass Effect also has a great story but is more of an RPG. It's sort of like KOTOR as far as gameplay, depending on which type of character you use will determine what weapons you'll have (guns, alien magic etc.) You can also go through it once on good and do it again on bad meaning it has great replay value.

Tough choice, I think Bioshock is slightly better but either one is a winner.

Picked up Bioshock.  Was $29, which felt like a win.

Made the right choice. My game of the year for 2007. Hell of a game.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

On Bioshock:  Great game.  Took me awhile to get used to using the plasmids and weapons in concert, but I think the game was really thoughtfully produced.  Like the stylization, too.

Any tips on killing the Big Daddies?  They take a ridiculous pounding to get down, unless I'm doing something wrong.

Also, did you harvest or save the girls?  I saved the first one, then harvested the second to see the difference, but since then I've been saving them.  The gifts the scientist gives you for saving them seem pretty worthwhile.  Just wondering if doing one of the other affects the game later.

Anything I should be keeping in mind as I walk through the beginning?

Big Daddies are a bitch, use metal piercing bullets/arrows which will help a bit. The rocket launcher gun thing and electric shotgun shells help too. The crossbow thingy will also cause some damage. I think the shocker plasmid works well with killing them and temporarily stunning them.
Harvesting the little sisters puts you on the bad path, I think if you harvest more than one you're bad. Both endings are available on youtube if you beat it but don't feel like going through the entire game again to see how it ends.

Anyone play Lost Odyssey yet? I'm not a big RPG player, but I like them from time to time and apparently the guy who did this did Final Fantasy...

I did. I thought it was just ok. Excellent graphics, but simplistic battle system, decent story although nothing special, and the dreaded random battles.

Worth giving a shot maybe, but if you don't really like RPGs, then you may not like the game.

I personally thought it was a worthy purchase, but I am a big fan of the genre, so you may be different.

Some gameplay videos there for you to check out. If you think you'll like it, what the hell go for it. If you are worried about it, then you can always rent it first.

Pretty long game, so it will take you some time to finish. It is like a 40-50 hour game. If you ignore all the sidequests, then you might be able to finish it in around 35, not sure.

It is like the Final Fantasy titles though. The major difference IMO is the story isn't up to par with most Final Fantasy titles. It isn't bad, just not as good.

That is completely unsurprising.
