I have to admit: I think the GTA series is overrated. I thought GTA3 was great, but then the series started to get repetitive. With that said, GTA4 is amazing. Other than Oblivion, I've never experienced a more life-like world. The detail on a world so big is outstanding. The AI and little tendencies of the drivers and commoners is highly upgraded. The story and theme is far superior to any of the series prior.

Plus there are tons of mini-games and things added that just take it to a whole new level. This is one great game. No reason for anyone not to pick it up.

Personally, I quit after Vice City.  Not sure why, but I didn't care for that game at all.

Yes. In fact I read the PS3 version has better frame rate. I got the 360 version so I can't confirm or deny this.

all i know is i just read that the ps3 version only is in 630p and xbox is in 720p.  Framerates, i dont think ps3 has been able to achieve 60fps yet, in any games that are available on both models.

I know Madden has been 60 fps on the 360, and only 30 on the PS3-- but they're changing to 60 for both this year.

Well I played GTA4 the good bit of yesterday and into the night. I have to say that the graphics are killer, the new animations for player movements are great and look very real. Other than that, I can't really point out anything that is that much diff than past games. In fact apparently I read there are not as many weapons as there were in the past games. I don't think your driving skill gets any better and its hard as shtein to drive. Moving Niko is no real improvement from the past, other than now he can climb up some walls and ladders. Even when he sprints, its way slower than GTA3. Otherwise its gets annoying with the camera, same with driving. I find myself using the right analog so i can see where the hell i am driving. The camera system still needs work, constantly adjusting to I can see things. The cover system is hard to use so far IMO...I think once I learn the controls better this is going to be a nice new addition and also will make the game harder to force you to cover rather than run and gun.

This all being said, the game is still what it is, AWESOME. How many games can you get a blowdge from a hooker, then kill her and get your money back? I was watching my roomate play and he got a blowdge, then ran over the hooker. She didn't die from his half ass attempt to run her over, she got up and tried to get back in the car....he drove off...but she was hanging onto the door handle, dragging,  a good 20 feet and then she finally let go....he got out of the car and shot her in the leg, she went down holding her leg! then he walked up to her and finished her off with a headshot. classic. the new animation movements are great...if you shoot someone in a certain area, they will grab that part, or limp away...if you hit someone with your car, depending on the angle they will go flying in a real life looking action. i jumped off a roof and landed on my nuts on a spiked fence...i died and he was grabbing his crouch. ha

the multiplayer is what makes this game though. i think there are 12 diff modes...it was slightly glitchy...not bad though for 1st day of release. team deathmatch, race and cops and crooks are my fav so far. played a game of cops and crooks and my team was the crooks. we took off for the checkpoint...cops not even close to us(cops being other players online) we get to a helicopter pad...we all were supposed to get in the chopper, but the first dick who got there took off without us...meanwhile the cops showed up and gunned us all down. point is, one player is the boss and you have to get him to safety before the cops kill him. its fun, and you never know whats going to happen, it always ends differently.

overall i would have to give it a 9/10, mostly because the multiplayer is a much needed new addition and will make the game always playable even if your sick of 1st player. some nice new additions to gameplay, but the single player mode is nothing really new and does get old. that being said its still the highly addicting game its always been, i like it alot so far.
