Sorry Reese. I'll stick to monosyllabic words from now on. I really should have known better.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

The 80s movies were enjoyable because Superman stories hadn't been done to death yet on television.  And it was the 80s and society was generally accepting of crap movies as long as they were cheeky.  Lois & Clark and then Smallville might have over saturated the Superman market, IMO. And his story isn't dark or disturbing or the least bit secretive as far as I know. He's an alien who was raised on earth and has retard strenght.  Yawn. I think that's why the Christopher Reeves movies started with a fully grown Clark Kent/Superman instead of getting into his origin.  I'm far from a comic book nerd, but Superman has probably been my least favorite Superhero since I was like 5 and learned about all the others.

I'm curious though, since they've already done the Green Lantern and now Superman, if there are plans to do Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, etc movies and eventually some sort of Justice League flick....similar to what they did with The Avengers.

The Marvel comics are darker and more sinister typically and that sort of moral ambiguity appeals to me.

It's funny that there isn't a single superhero on that DC list that interests me especially considering Batman has already been done to perfection.

Watchmen still kicks all their asses which is ironic considering its a DC Comic.

Now that you mention it, I guess other than batman, none of the DC heros have a dark or checkered past or are contradictions of themselves. They're mostly wholesome, MA-type characters who do good while staying within the parameters of the law.

I'm with you. Even when I was like 6 or 7 I still remember thinking that Superman and Captain America's all-american, do-goody schtick was lame.

Man of Steel was horrible. I couldn't wait for it to be over. The story, characters and acting were laughingly poor. The cgi was awful and overused. Hey look...there's another building falling. I'd rank it below the one that came out with Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther. Don't waste your time seeing it.

I saw it the other day. My expectations were pretty low, considering the reviews.

My kid liked it, but nuance is largely lost on 9 year olds. I'm a little conflicted about what I think about the movie, because part of the problem is that I'm not a big Superman fan. He's kind of a boring character, in general. Too...super. And even by Superhero standards, his powers make no sense. So, that isn't the fault of the movie, per se. I think that Superman as a character just doesn't translate well into today's sensibilities. That said, there was about zero character development over the movie, and the dialog seemed really forced at times. It was clear that they were going for a Batman feel, which felt more like a ripoff than a standardization of the DC world.

And, sure, they refreshed the story a little...but it's the same story they keep telling over and over again. The CGI was over the top, and parts of the story were laughable. The part with his dad and the tornado was just stupid. Also, even with the suspension of disbelief in place, I'm trying to figure out how an untrained dude who never had to really try at anything is supposed to go hand to hand with multiple genetically engineered trained killers with equal super powers wearing super armor.

The fact that they picked a British actor also annoyed me irrationally. Can you imagine the uproar if they cast an American as James Bond? The product placements and promotional tie-ins were also over the top. So, yeah, I found the movie to be annoying, I guess.

When you've got an albino Brit playing Khan in a Star Trek movie, I can't really work up any amount of disappointment over a white guy playing a white guy in a Superman movie.

The man. The myth. The legend.

The power structure of my company moved to London, and I work with passive-aggressive, egomaniacal Brits everyday. It's pretty easy for me to get worked up about it.

SunMo

you are all the worst people on earth.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

You say that like it's some sort of news.
