He farging nailed the Star Trek reboot and I'm not even a Trekkie. So I'd say there's hope.

Star Trek was decent but I didn't dig the whole time travel angle

General_Failure

He nailed it with the light bar off a redneck's pickup to get all that sweet lens flare.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Lets put it this way.

I have spent my entire life as a Star Wars fan and I would rather watch the Star Trek reboot on loop for the rest of my life than sit through another viewing of episodes one two or three. So improvement is basically guaranteed.

Would you say there's A New Hope for the Star Wars franchise?

Personally, I would venture to say this is Disney's way of Striking Back at Paramount.

Munson

Lets just hope Abrams doesn't bring Lucas in during production and give him some sort of role in the background like a Phantom Menace.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

isnt abrams claim to fame being a huge sci fi nerd....how would he not be the perfect fit here
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

General_Failure

A huge sci fi nerd would just make a movie that's two hours of Boba Fett as space James Bond, flying around, shooting guys in the face, and banging blue and green alien chicks. This started as a joke but I would totally see that movie.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Speaking of Star Wars, this last episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars with Maul, Zevage, and Death Watch was probably the most awesomest, dopest, sweetest thing ever to hit the teevee.

I know, I know, wrong thread.
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

basically...directed super 8/star trek & got Lost off the ground (though wasn't involved after season 1).

Munson

He also produced Cloverfield, which I think gets too much hate sometimes.

I wanted to see Super 8 but never got around to it

Silver Linings Playbook

Cool that it was in Philly, complete with Eagles tie-in
Jennifer Lawrence is preposterous and unfair to most other women (except for weird scrunchy face)
Otherwise, meh. Good acting and whatnot, and the length was kind of needed to develop the romance... But no Bradley Cooper in a fat suit!

Rome

Watched Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol tonight.  It wasn't awful but something about it just wasn't right.  There was way too much awkward humor in it for me.   And it was entirely too long.

I'll give it a B- mostly because Ving Rames was in it for about 30 seconds and there's not a cooler motherfarger on Earth than the erstwhile Marcellus Wallace.

Otherwise, solid C.

rjs246

Ghost Protocol was probably the worst movie I saw last year. Cringe worthy. Simon Pegg was barely tolerable, everything else was infuriating garbage.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
