Watched "Goon" with the wifey Saturday.  I was surprised by the cast, didn't know stiffler was in it, nor Liev Schrieiber.  Writing was Meh, but the general premise was good.  Has me ready for hockey to start up now.  There's some good hockey code lines that any hockey fans would like.  And being a canadian movie, they had the "Trailer Park Boys" in some random cameo spots.

lol I'm watching his right now....definitely a little strange, but funny at the same time.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

SD

Django was decent, a little too long.

saw Argo last night--very good and has you in it the whole time

SD--you use that website http://www.1channel.ch/?tv to watch these movies for free?

youre lucky i was about to call the cops

watched a Zero Dark Thirty screener last night.  really good movie.  from the previews i wasn't impressed with the red-headed chick's looks and to hear people creaming over her was confusing.  but man, there were scenes when she looked smoking.

i want to know how close all of that is to the truth.  it's a great farging story if all the major events are true.

From what I've read in newspapers and heard on NPR broadcasts, it's closer to "the truth" than Argo was, which was pretty accurate but for some added chase scenes and the like toward the end.

The seizing of the compound by the SEALs was supposed to be a minute by minute recreation, although some of the more technical aspects had to be altered for secrecy reasons.

I think it's pretty clear from the vehement denials issued by the agency, and by every elected douchebag who was around at the time who had knowledge of the torture shtein, that most of it was accurate.

It was a very good movie, Chastain was hot as farg in it, and in the end Bin Laden got shot in the face.

Win.  Win.  Win.

The raid is exactly how it's portrayed in "No Easy Day". Some of the intelligence stuff was mentioned and there was a CIA girl who was the Carrie to the whole thing.

Tell me you didn't get a mini erection when they capped Bin Laden

Lincoln was incredible.

DDL is the best actor alive and it's not even remotely close.  It's like Lincoln came alive before your eyes on screen.  Jesus, what a nuanced and intricate performance.  I don't know if the real Lincoln was anything like DDL portrayed him to be, but I sure hope he was.

5/5

did you compare his performance to all the youtube videos of lincoln?

the impossible - sappy predictable but incredibly well made story of survival and hope...many elder women repeatedly bawling in the theater...the tsunami scenes were just amazingly well done and hard to watch...naiomi watts was as usual great...as was the kid who played her oldest son

6.5/10

in bruges - finally saw this....always looked interesting but colin farrell being a hack of epic proportions i avoided it for a few years...but i have to say farrell was wonderful in it...like he was reincarnated as a good actor...had so many funny lines...in general i really enjoyed it......excellent screenplay....movie is a bit talky mixed in with some pretty stark violence...not unlike a tarantino movie on a smaller scale...like a resovoir dogs...if i was a bruges native i woukld feel great pride in this movie...great cinematography of that city

7/10
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

He compared it to his childhood memories of him. Because he's old.

SunMo

watched the new Judge Dredd yesterday.  what a horrendous piece of crap.  and that's something i assumed from the trailer, i thought it would be horrible.  then it got 77% positive on rotten tomatoes and 85% positive fan reviews and it convinced me to give it a chance.  no.  bad.

Geowhizzer

What about Judge Dredd ever cried out about a remake?  Humorously bad the first time around.

Comic book character, no way they weren't going to redo it.
