Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Finally saw Avatar and Sherlock Holmes.

Enjoyed both of them.

Avatar was a great action movie that had absolutely no business being nominated for an academy award. If you go into it expecting a fun and visually amazing action flick, you'll be satisfied. If you go into thinking you're seeing a great and award winning piece of art you're going to be horribly disappointed. Probably didn't need to be 3 hours long, but that's about my only complaint given my expectations.

Sherlock Holmes was also fun. Again, nothing life-changing but totally watchable from beginning to end. It too probably didn't need to be so long.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Miley Miss was talking about this the other day and was wondering why they even made a movie about it since most kids never heard of it......which is exactly why they make it into a movie because it's like a brand new thing in kids' eyes.

probably why there's a Smurfs movie coming out too

Did you see it in the theater or at home?  Cause the 3D was amazing.  Story, not so much.

General_Failure

I guess they're counting it as a musical action drama, rather than a comedy.

The man. The myth. The legend.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Wrong, because Cop Rock was awesome, and The Tourist apparently sucks.

General_Failure

I knew they should have put Depp in some fancy period costume.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Saw 'Man on Wire' in my film class. It was decent, at first I was annoyed with the entire concept of some French attention whore but then the film grew on me when they were sneaking around and setting the wire up in the WTC.

Eagles_Legendz

I'm sure this is obvious and normally a terrible category but:

BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
BURLESQUE
THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
RED
THE TOURIST

Is literally the worst combination of movies nominated for supposedly being good that I've ever seen.

Saw kids are alright.  Agree that it was good.  Red was enjoyable too--not worthy to be nominated for anything, but fun.

Still.  Tourist/Burlesque/Alice.  Awful.

phattymatty

yeah Red was enjoyable in an  aww look at those cute old people kind of way. and plot "twists" that a five yer old could figure out.

i watched Year One on a train this weekend, which is pretty much considered awful by anything i've ever read or heard, but i laughed a lot.

Agree.

I would love a job like that where I traveled all the time
It gets old real quick.

took the little one to see the latest (and hopefully last) narnia movie today.

god it was bad.  it wasn't as bad as the last sequel but it was bad.

i'll go 4 out of 10.

Let me save you 5 bucks, here is the ending
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.
