Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Depp was absolutely terrible in the original.  I'm shocked he got a job after that to be honest.

I'd forgotten he was in it until I watched it a few years ago. Which was the last time I'd seen it, and I do agree that its aged horribly. But back then it was solid. The one now was horrible.

Rescue Dawn - Good flick, especially if you're into survival type crap.

Apologies if anyone has mentioned this yet, but its news to me...

I was watching Fresh Prince re-runs and wondered what the actors have been up to since the show. I hopped on IMDB and when I got to Uncle Phil I saw this...

lol

anyway the blind side was gay. really, really gay. but it held my attention for 2 hours. so, theres that.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I watched Two Weeks Notice with the family last night.  What a saccarine piece of crap romantic comedy with just about every imaginable "opposites attract" genre cliche present and accounted for.

Sandy plays the clumsy angst-filled do-gooder and Hugh Grant plays, well, Hugh Grant.

Out of 5 stars I give it 1/4 star but only because there was a few scenes of her in a short tennis skirt.  Mild boingage.

Julie and Julia.  A movie that refused to ever, ever get to the point.  Eventually gave up.  Bleah.

Sex and the City 2!!  Oh.  Em.  Gee.  I can't wait.

The four of you need to turn in your Man cards.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Saw Iron Man 2 in a morning matinee today.

The great:  Scarlett Johannsen is incredibly hot and Downey is terrific as Stark (again).  Stan Lee in a cameo that was about a second long but entirely hilarious considering the content.  The music was awesome as well.  Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury was brilliant casting.  I'd love to see a Nick Fury spinoff, actually.

The good: The actions sequences were fairly entertaining although a bit chaotic.  Downey playing a drunken Stark made me laugh out loud and there were several moments between him and Don Cheadle that were entertaining but mostly because they were great together in Tropic Thunder.  In fact I'd like to see more of Cheadle in the next one.  I'm not a fan of Gwynneth Paltrow but she was decent in this movie as Pepper Potts.  Sam Rockwell was pretty decent as Hammer but he grated on me as the movie dragged on... which leads me to the bad...

The bad:  The story was a convoluted mess.  Action movies usually are but this thing made no sense and a lot of it was maudlin and saccharine sweet.  The movie should have been about 1/2 hour shorter because just when things began to get interesting it would veer off on another tangent and ruin it.  They had to do it because they were obviously setting up the next movie, but it felt like forever sitting there at times.

The unwatchable:  Mickey Rourke.   To call him a cariacature would be an insult to ludicrous distortions everywhere.  A cardboard cutout would have given a more nuanced performance.

Anyway... overall the pluses trump the minuses, so 3/5 stars for me.

I should probably go check it out since I may or may not be in there somewhere.

Pretty much, I didn't want to get into specifics until someone else saw it.

That being said Scarlett Johannsen is so ridiculously hot that when she was on the screen my mind was so focused on her that I forgot what was going on in the movie.
Shame Mort wasn't alive to play Stark's pops in those home movies. My nerd of a roommate pointed out to me that the round thing Stark used to prop up his machine was Captain America's shield. I originally thought it was some advertisment for Stark industries or something. Did you stay through the credits to see the cut scene with Thor's hammer? Apparently the end with the Avenger's file is a set up for an Avenger's movie in 2012.

As for your bad I didn't understand the motivation of Rourke's character, maybe there's a back story I missed. I didn't think he was awful in the role. The Hammer guy was a little over the top douchey for my liking but his character had some memorable lines.

Maudlin and saccharine sweet, baby!

Rome

We were the only ones left at the end and yeah I saw it.  Awesome.

And I can't believe how hot Scarlett was as a brunette.  Holy shtein she was worth the seven bucks I spent just for the fight scene alone.

Is nobody going to point out that cheadle wasn't anywhere near Tropic Thunder?
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.
