Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Am I the only person who has no desire to see Good Luck Chuck?  I know Jessica Alba's in it and all but I simply can't fathom the thought of seeing her make out with that douche bag Dane Cook.  I seriously can't stand that dude and don't find any of his comedy remotely funny.  He is to standup comedians what the Backstreet Boys are to music.

this looks like the biggest pile of shtein ever.
You are definately not the only one.
It makes me so sad when movie like this make $100 mill.
Who do you know who has a desire to see this?

Other than a few girls I know in their mid-20's who think he's awesome, no one.  Especially people with penises.

Unless there's nipple, ass or labia there's no way I'm seeing that shtein.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Diomedes

Finally saw Donnie Darko.  It was good.

Also saw Grizzly Man.  That was fantastic.

Also watched like ten episodes of The Wire, but this thread isn't for television shows which are better than movies.  It's for movies.

Are you still on season 1?

Zodiac 2.5/5 - had its moments, had potential, but overall it doesn't deliver.

The BIGSTUD

Eastern Promises - Didn't live up to the hype that I had heard from it. It was a slow, dragging out movie, but it actually kept me interested throughout most of it. The only problem was I was waiting for something to happen to kick the movie into the next gear, but it never came. Then the ending was extremely lame. Very abrupt and in a bad way, not in an artistic creative way at all. It had a couple badass fight scenes with a lot of gore.

So in summary, the movie kept my attention because I was expecting something to happen, that never came. The movie was kind of pointless in the end. Solid flick until you the end of the movie completely makes the 2 hours you just watched completely irrelevant in a way.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Rome

I watched "Stranger Than Fiction" last night after the Phillies game.  I'm not usually a big Will Ferrell fan but I really liked his performance.  He's usually such a jackass in the movies he's in so I was surprised by the restraint he showed in the movie.  Also - I get what you guys were talking about with respect to Maggie Gyllenhaal.  She's not traditionally hot but there's something about her, at least in that movie anyway, that was very attractive - hot even.  I was also surprised by Dustin Hoffmann's performance.  He's another guy that I usually can't stand but he was excellent in a supporting role.

Anyway - a very solid movie all around.  3.5 out of 5.

MadMarchHare

You really hate Hoffman?  I've always thought he was one of, if not the most, versatile actors still working.

His connection to a movie was enough to get me to a theater, until recently.  He's started taking bit parts in average movies, just for the dough.
Anyone but Reid.

Grave of the Fireflies - 4.5/5

Anime, but for 'big kids'.  About a teen boy and his little sister trying to survive (bombings, find food, etc.) in WW2 Japan.  Have the hankies ready for this one.  And definitely not for younger kids, not rated but I'd give it a PG-13 at least.

Little Miss Sunshine - 3.75/5

Good, but weird dark comedy.  Didn't know wether to laugh or cringe at the ending.   The grandfather was hilarious though, definitely deserved that Oscar.

"Year of the Dog"
Who wants to see a 90-minute PETA commercial starring Molly Shannon?
0.1/5  (anything with Saaaaarrrsgard automatically gets 0.1)

"You Kill Me"
Mostly formulaic and weak, but I'm a fan of Ben Kingsley and Tea Leoni.  Plus, it's the first movie I've watched since that "Year of the Dog" crap.
2.9/5

Phanatic

Hitchock Rules.

Watched the Birds recently. The story line is a little off in spots but somehow it's a pretty good movie.

Lucky You - 1/5.

Even hotter poop.  The only part that even makes this watchable is that it's about poker and integrates a lot of real poker pros into the games.  Eric Bana might give the worst performance in a very long time.  I normally like Drew Barrymore, and she's ok, but overall this a a steaming pile of poker shtein.

Yep.  I was going to add this, but I honestly thought it was so average that it wasn't worth mentioning at all.

Basically, I wouldn't advise someone against renting it, but it's embarrassingly formulaic.  SPOILER! I even knew as soon as Duvall showed the Kings that the douche was going to muck. Everything was spelled out and just awful.
