You really hate Hoffman?  I've always thought he was one of, if not the most, versatile actors still working.

His connection to a movie was enough to get me to a theater, until recently.  He's started taking bit parts in average movies, just for the dough.

I never said I hated him.  I just don't usually like him or his hammy acting in most movies.  He's like Al Pacino in that regard.  He'll do 9 movies I'll hate and then do one that surprises me.

Father Demon

Reading back through this, I saw the name Maggie Gyllenhaal, so I googled her.  Turns out she was very naked in Sherrybaby, which means it earned a high spot on my Blockbuster queue.

God Bless CF.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Yep, the straight flush that knocked out Jean Smart was telegraphed from the start too.

The more I think about the movie, the more it angers me.  farg.

"Knocked Up"
4/5.  LOL funny only a few times, but plenty of subtle, "hey that's kind of like real life" laughs also.  Pushed the envelope many times but only crossed the line during the birth scene.  If you've seen the unrated version, you know what I mean (barf).  Oh, and Katherine Heigl needs my johnson.

"Fracture"
3/5.  Anthony Hopkins turns in what would be a fantastic performance by almost anyone else, but is just another day at the office for him.  Ryan Gosling's talent is completely wasted.  The premise was good, and the plot was put together well... except for the downfall of Hopkins' character, IMO.  Anyway, good flick and worth a watch.

that part was actually in the theater version too.

Impressive.

By the way, I thought the Ryan Secrest rant early in the movie was a pleasant surprise towards the hilarious.

Check out some of his older stuff.  Like The Graduate, or Marathon Man.  I especially liked him in the made for TV version of Death of a Salesman.  That was fantastic.
Anyone but Reid.

Watched 1408 it was pretty damn good.  Still a little unsure about the end.

HATED him in the Willy Loman role.  Just horrible.

I think of Brian Dennehy as the quintessential Willy - strong, proud, yet completely ravaged and broken by life whereas  Hoffmann played him like a four-eyed, whiny, sniveling little bitch.

Biff was supposed to be an all-star athlete yet he came from a sawed-off midget like Dustin Hoffmann?  No.

Wow, Brian Dennehy played Willie Loman like......Brian Dennehy.  What a surprise.
Of course, now, Hoffman played the role like Tennessee Williams meant it to be played, a man who has never had much, and has finally lost his mind.  In the end, his kids learn to respect him, but for the wrong reasons.  Nuanced performance.  Something Dennehy is incapable of.

Susan Sarandon is 61 today.  Would you still hit it?

rjs246

yes, as long as something was obstructing her ability to talk/preach during.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?
