Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Invincible- saw it with the LaSalle football team. it was good.  :cfhead :cfhead :cfhead
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

invincible is good it you look at it by itself. there were a lot of ommissions and bending of timelines in the movie. i read the book a few years ago. the movie is acurately "inspired by vince papale" rather than "based on..."

the most glaring omission from the story was Papale' level of football experience since he played for the Philadelphia Bell in their one year of existance (WFL)

Went and saw "Invincible"  today it was very good.  The only thing that really pissed me off was the Eagles fight song was "Fight Eagles Fight..."  that really pissed me off.  It also really made me miss PA very much seeing the Yeungling and what not. :'(

I saw Poseidon last night. Pretty bad and cheesy, but that was what I expected. Emmy Rossum though is very cute.

6/10

Also saw United 93 the other night. I can't say I enjoyed it because 9/11 movies fill me with anger, but it was very well done I thought. So I can't really rate it. I wouldn't watch it again, and I think that's the last 9/11 movie I see.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

I finally got around to watching Kung Fu Hustle. I'm sorry I put it off for so long. It's easily one of my favorite movies now.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Diomedes

That was a winning movie in every respect.  I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I would've enjoyed KFH a lot more if I didn't go in expecting a hilarious movie, because it pretty much wasn't even a comedy. It wasn't funny at all, nor did it try to be. It was a purposely cheesy action flick. Only one part made me laugh, and it really wasn't intended to be funny.

Rome

I watched "Bullitt" yesterday.  I hadn't seen it in a while and it's still excellent.

Steve McQueen was the coolest motherfarger ever.  And I had forgotten that Jacqueline Bissett was also in that movie.  Dayum was she hot.

Hard-boiled, no-nonsense dialogue, interesting camera work, and the second greatest chase scene ever filmed (the one in "The French Connection" was the best, IMO).

What more can you ask from a movie?

Yeah, what is with that? Vince's buddies singing the song wrong? You'd almost think the song was different back then. But in the stadium shots, somebody had a banner sign up, saying "fly, Eagles, fly." So maybe they were suggesting the buddies didn't get it right? Strange.

Overall, a nice, feel-good movie.

Well the fat guy with a cape at the tryout sung it that way too.

It was a fantastic homage to all the old school kung fu films out of Hong Kong back in the 70's.  It somehow managed to get even more over the top than those, which was awesome.

I don't know about 5/5, but I enjoyed it very much.  You should see "Shaolin Soccer" also.

As for "Invincible", I really enjoyed it.  That said, it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting, nothing more and nothing less.  It's not going to be a movie I'd want to watch over and over again, and it's not really "classic" material, except for those of us that are actually die-hard Philly fans.

The one line about the Giants having won no championships made me want a time machine, though.

3.75/5.

Watched "The Great Raid" about a pow camp in the Phillipines during WWII.  I really thought it was well done and accurate to the true story.  3.5/5

I saw The House of Wax last night. It was an awful awful movie, but for those that say Paris Hilton isn't hot are just crazy. She's not amazing, but she certainly is hot. I don't care if she got a boob job or not either. They look good.
