Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Wonder Woman - Pretty well done, especially considering DC movies usually aren't very good.  Recommended watch if you're into comic book related stuff and/or if you just want to look at Gal Gadot's delicious thighs for 2 hours.

I'm on the fence about watching, at least in the theatre. I worry that it'll be too much nonstop CG, and the continuation/connection with the Batman vs. Superman debacle is a bit frightening.

I usually stay away from films like Hidden Figures. And I'm not just talking the race factor, but those movies in general seem to follow the same format and are boring. I was happy to see the story and it's a great story that needed to be told, but the movie was what I expected.

I'm with you. Sounds like it would be a fine movie...I just feel like I saw it already after watching one commercial. I'm not opposed to seeing it, but considering I passed on watching it during an 8 hour flight, good chance I won't just pop it on at home.

On Wonder Woman...another one I'm not opposed to seeing, but I have no burning need to rush out to see. It's one of those things where if I feel like getting out to a movie with the family and it's playing at a convenient time, I'd go. Otherwise, it'll be on HBO or something soon enough.

It's definitely cgi heavy, but pretty well done and there were only a few brief scenes where I thought it was noticeably bad.

As for the connection to Batman vs Superman, there is none other than a quick setup at the beginning of the movie which seems to take place maybe a few months after BM v SM and then a quick return to that at the very end. Otherwise it's a totally independent origin sorry that takes place in WW1.

I'll also say that in comparison with other super hero movies, I think WW origin story was told more closely to her comic origin than any other movie had done with their respective hero.  Biggest change I can think of was shifting from WW2 to WW1, but other than that, they really nailed the nuts and bolts of her origin.  So if that's something that matters to you, I think you'd be pleased with the narrative.

Juno
Silence of the Lambs
Million Dollar Baby
Kill Bill
Alien
Zero Dark Thirty
Sophie's Choice
Misery
The Others
Erin Brockovich
Bridesmaids

Those are just movies off the top of my head I thought were good/interesting. I'm sure some movie buff could go back in time and find movies featuring Audrey Hepburn and Maryilyn Monroe that were good/interesting.

girl interrupted comes to mind.

Havas showed up in full Orange Face with that one and no one noticed.  Sad.

I just watched the Netflix original Sand Castle. After getting over the initial shock of it not being a mockumentary of the career of Robin Sparkles, I thought it turned out to be a pretty good movie.

Rome

Wonder Woman was pleasantly entertaining.  I was shocked at how much fun it was because I thought it was going to be horrendous.  I only went because my kid wanted to see it.  I'm glad I went.

I'll give it a 7.5/10.

Chris Pine stole the movie, actually.  Robin Wright was great too.

so it was good for a women movie

Yes, but only because there were men in it. And no negros or gays.
