Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Any time I watch the original trilogy I seem catch something new that I've not noticed before.

In Ep 4, as they're all sneaking to the Falcon to escape and, Obi Wan lets Vader slay him and Luke screams out which alerts all the Storm Troopers and they start firing.  Just as the firing begins they show Han returning fire and Leia is standing next to him and she kind of shrugs her shoulders and holds her hands out as if she's like "WTF Luke?!?!"  I doubt it's intentional but still kind of cracked me up.

I can't watch 1 and 2.  They're not even worthy of being called garbage.  3 was great because the actor playing Anakin actually sounds like he got burned to death in it and that made me happy after he ruined 2.

I watched TFA the other day and I'm not sure why but I still really like it.  I get why heads have issues with it but it's enjoyable to me and that's enough.

Sgt PSN

My only real beef with TFA was that Maz character. Too cartoonish, imo.  There were some other things I wasn't crazy about, but all in all it was an enjoyable movie and the 5th best in the entire series.

The goat ESB is on TBS right now.  I have the Blu Ray but I'll still watch it.

Daughter loves GOTG, got tickets for part 2 tomorrow. Reclining seat tickets.

Sgt PSN

No reclining seats in Pennsyltucky theaters, but we've got our tickets for tomorrow as well.

I finally watched "Mr. Nobody," which I've had in my Netflix queue for quite a while. Not great...but definitely very strange. Pretty much an old, dying guy remembering his life, but in a Schroedinger's Cat kind of way. Multiple threads of the course of his life, all differing based on decisions he's made...with some kind of quantum entanglement thrown in. Still trying to wrap my head around it.

SD

GOTG 2 wasn't bad, not as good as the first but I wasn't expecting it to be. Felt like it took a while for the story to come together then it just kind of fell together at the end.

You pick your own seats at the theater I went to. It's nice because the seats recline and there's a double arm rest between you and the person sitting next to you. I sit down and there's an obese girl shoveling a large bucket of popcorn in her mouth. No lie I'm 99% sure she killed the entire bucket an hour into the movie. Next to her was her dork boyfriend who every time Groot said "I am Groot" he had to repeat the phrase out loud. I wanted to reach over his obese girlfriend and smack him in his head.

For anyone who saw the movie, the one thing I didn't understand was why did Ego (Starlords father) give the love of his life and Starlords mother a brain tumor? He just says he gave it to her then Starlord starts shooting at him.

Sgt PSN

Because as much as he cared for Quill's mother, he got called back to sea for his "purpose."

Without getting too much into detail I'll just say that it was an entertaining movie for people who enjoy comic book movies, but totally agree that the 1st was better. By a lot. Soundtrack to this one was really weak as well. Figured it'd at least have a kick ass soundtrack.

I understand that, but why couldn't he just roll? What was his motivation to kill her?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure she deserved it

Sgt PSN

Hahaha.

He said that had he gone back to Earth 1 more time, he wouldn't have been able to leave. Basically, he gave her the tumor so that she'd die and so would the temptation for him to abandon his purpose.

Back to the Star Wars prequel triology...Dooku was supposedly Darth Tyranus and Sidious's apprentice. But in his scene with Obi Wan, he tells him Sidious is in control of the Senate and that he wished Qui-Gon Jinn was there to help him. Was he honestly conflicted about what was going on and what he was helping happen, or was it just his own thirst for power that basically drove him to betray Sidious there? I figure that's probably been addressed somewhere in the novelization or the Star Wars universe.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
