Hot Fuzz - 5/5

I swear to god I don't get this. I loved Shaun of the Dead but thought Hot Fuzz was average. No laughs, all chuckles. Nothing original or interesting. Predictable and just uninteresting. Everyone loves this movie but I thought it was the definition of MEH.

I heard a few people in the theater last night saying it was better the 2nd time around

youre probably right in that it takes a few viewings to really understand all those penis jokes

Well I know I always forget things in a movie only seeing it once. Seeing it more helps me remember oh shtein that part was funny I forgot.

BUt yeah, I drew dicks.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Good point.  I used the first one that came to mind that had more laughs than LiT.

Rome

Speaking of Murray, I watched "Meatballs" the other day.  I seem to remember that movie being much funnier when it was released, but as it turns out, it was painful to watch.  It's basically Murray acting like a jackass for an hour and a half and a collection of Z-list nobodies that were never heard from again doing the late-70s teen exploitation thing without actually removing any clothing or getting maimed by homicidal maniacs.

As it turns out things I thought were hysterical when I was 14 aren't quite as funny at 42.

Very disappointing.

yeah meatballs didnt age very well...the all time example tho is nightmare on elm street...that movie is a friggin joke now but at the time was one of the scariest and best movies i had ever seen

I agree with you on that one RJS.  So there, you found the 1 other person who thought it was MEH.

Hott Fuzz wasn't really a great comedy, but as a cop movie it was great. They did the whodunit thing. They did the horror thing. They pulled action scenes straight out of nowhere and for no reason whatsoever, and they were pretty good too.

The man. The myth. The legend.

It was a stupid Cop movie too. The 'action' sequences were idiotic, which was the point. The problem is that if they were going to mock cop movies they should have made it funny in some way, which they didn't.

I'm laughing because you guys were expecting something other than a moronic comedy out of this

A moronic comedy without any laughs! Yay! 10/5!

I just watched Hot Fuzz last week.  No Shaun of the Dead but I thought it was funny.  Started off a little slow but got better.  Those guys just make me laugh whenever they are together.

Saw The Simpsons movie.  Not bad but not great.  The movie is better than the show has been recently but not even close to as good as in it's heyday.

hbionic

Blood Diamond.

I don't care how bad ass these gangs out here think they are...they ain't shtein compared to those militias out there in Africa.

I'll give it a solid 8 out of 10. The plot didn't piss me off. The love story wasn't lame. De Caprios character was likeable. The captain of the RUF was a badass. Crazy what those kids go through.

Solid watch!
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05
