Rome

I have no interest in watching another "heart-wrenching" sob story about a cowardly junky who chose to blow his head off instead of manning up and living for the sake of his child.

And I was a huge Nirvana fan too.  But really, farg that clown.

OUT.

Not everyone grew up in the Brady bunch and not every person thinks the way normal people do. Most great artist are great for a reason. They have an emotion that takes them to a dark place but that comes with consequences. It's worth watching to get a different perspective on his life. It's ignorant to just say he should have 'manned up'. He wanted to kill himself long before he actually did.

Rome

I completely understand the reasons behind his decision.   I can wholly sympathize with his friends and family for their loss.  I just think that when a child enters your life you have the obligation to stick it out for them.   If he was terminally ill or in excruciating pain I could see him taking himself out, but he was neither of those things.  He was a spoiled rock star who ended his life because it was just too hard.  Boo hoo.

I know it's not PC to say this, especially here, but I have little sympathy for people who have everything and then take themselves out.   My Dad had terminal cancer that dissolved him inside, and fought till his last breath to stay with me and my Mom, brother and sisters.   That's a man, not some junky who is tormented by his inner demons.  shtein, who doesn't have them?

This times a million.

He didn't have terminal cancer but he had a mental illness which in this case was worse because he couldn't cope. It's not like he was some phony who acted like a mess for perception but really lived a lavish lifestyle. Dude was a legit mess and serious mental problems, he wasn't some whiney emo kid.

And I'm not saying cancer is a joke - because every person on this board has lost someone to it - but cancer doesn't cause people to go on shooting rampages. Mental illness shouldn't be cast aside as who cares you should just man up its not that serious.

Especially when it affects kids.

I never fully understood mental illnesses and while I know a ton more now I still don't. My sister has been going through some pretty rough things and she's only 15. Painful to see and hear and equally painful to not be able to help.

Don't worry, we're a country that thinks you can just stop being sad if you're suffering from depression, so you don't really need to know about it.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Age of Ultron was tedious and dull.  It's not so much that I hated it; more like I wish I had never bothered going in the first place.

I got the distinct feeling all the actors involved have had enough too.

C- and that's being generous.

mad max has 34 good, zero bad, average rating of 9.2/10 on rotten tomatoes.  Insane reviews so far.  The aesthetic and trailers didn't make me want to watch it but I love Hardy and those reviews are great, so maybe.

not my kind of movie but i thought the opposite regarding the trailers.....i thought they were really well done if you like that kind of shtein

Damn.

That's intense. Sad. Well written.

I can't wrap my head around suicide and I struggled to do it when we found out my sister wanted to walk in front of a bus or into oncoming traffic. Literally stopped me cold in my tracks when my mom told me that.
But depression is real. I never paid much mind to it before but I sure do now.

its one of the worst diseases you can have....my brother also has it bad....thank god never to the extent of suicide (at least that anyone knows of) but when he has it he will do things like stay in his bed for literally weeks at a time without ever even turning his bedroom light on....hes found medicine that really helps him but if he goes off of it even for a couple days hes right back to nightmare central....its such a frustrating thing because the people who have it cant even explain/describe how they feel or what it is...and the doctors dont understand it for the most part....for all the advancements made in medicine over the last couple centuries its amazing how little is still known about the brain

Exactly.

It's like the carbon monoxide of diseases. Can't really see it or feel it as an outsider but if you're struggling with it inside it'll kill you.

Medications work well but the trial and error on them is frustrating. We changed them up so many times. And many aren't fit for an underdeveloped brain of a teenager and could worsen the condition.

My sister kinda mirrored that girl in the sense that outwardly everything seemed great. She was a stud synchronized swimmer and ended up quitting and ending her Olympic dreams.

How old is your brother? Has it affected his professional life or is his company understanding?
