It's basically the same formula they use in every movie.  What was different about this one was the technology.  The animation was amazing.  There were times it didn't look like an animated movie.

Munson

World War Z-Turned out exactly as expected...entertaining, but ultimately hugely disappointing. Outside of a few small things here and there, had virtually nothing to do with the book. It's a good mindless action/suspense/zombie movie....but that's about it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Still haven't read WWZ.  Just as I didn't watch The Wire until it was off the air for 5 years, I refused to jump on the WWZ bandwagon at the time because I'm too cool to do what everyone else is doing.  But the movie looks to be a fun summer action flick.  Will seeing it ruin the book?

Munson

No not at all...There's only a few small elements from the book, maybe two scenes overall that they take almost directly from the book, so seeing the movie won't spoil much from the book or anything like that.

But yes, read the book ASAP.

This Is The End

haven't laughed that hard in the theater in a long time. michael cera and danny mcbride killed it but everyone had their own funny scenes.

Funniest movie I've seen in years.  Holy shtein it was great.  The bit at the end was, well... unexpected.

A+

SD

Took my daughter to see Monsters University. I think I liked it more than she did. Didn't see the first one but I was entertained for 2 hours. Apparently Sunday nights at the movies is popular because the theater was packed.

SD

World War Z was okay. Not really a fan of the way they did the zombies.

rjs246

Watched Battle: Los Angeles last night. When no one was speaking it was a really good alien invasion action movie. But, of course, from time to time actors are required to speak and oh my farging god was the writing and acting just awful. The visuals and the basic outline of the plot were excellent, like a more serious Independence Day with civilians escaping and soldiers fighting. But the positives only justified about 90 minutes worth of screen time so we were force-fed an extra half hour of awful melodrama and every single war cliche imaginable.

Anyway, I turned it on and was initially pleasantly surprised but eventually laughing out loud at how bad it was.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Don Ho

Never was a big fan of The Lone Ranger but thought I might give the movie a try this weekend.  Jesus H. Christ has it gotten chopped to pieces in the reviews.  My son's all pissed off that I read the reviews before hand but I's got to know.

"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

General_Failure

Anyone who wants to see The Lone Ranger is a terrible person.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Don Ho

I just want to see that dead bird on Johnny Depp's head.

google that shtein i promise you it is good
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Im gonna be the hater here but whatever...I gotta be real. Im stunned by the high reviews. Im going to have to assume the both of you guys were either drunk or blazed as shtein going into this movie to rank your comments that high.

Heres the deal--no doubt there were some one-liners and scenes that were good and will you give a decent laugh because the characters are funny to begin with, but this is by far not the funniest movie in years. If you go into this thing thinking Hangover or Wedding Crashers type laugh out loud shtein--consider yourself played. Put it to you this way, the wife and I left 1.5 hrs (yes, it s a 2hr movie) into it and I never leave a movie. I just couldnt take the corniness of what was going on anymore.
