I'm pretty sure his plan is exactly what he said it was all along.  Get good players at all positions.  Keep improving the roster and get guys he wants in uniform.  I'm not saying he's right on these moves, mind you.  No one will know until the games are played but it's clear he has a plan.  I doubt Murray was part of it, though.  That's just something that fell into his lap.  Lucky vs. good & whatnot...

If Murray/Mathews/Alonso were all on the same team, and the Eagles traded Shady for all 3 players. Not one person in the world would say it was a bad move.

Ryan Mathews is not good.  And I have a strange irrational dislike for him. 

Murray is.  Is he overpaid?  Yes, but he's good and here now so let's just hope he stays on the field.

if they don't sign Matthews it makes it significantly better....but at no time ever am I putting over 25 million dollars of guarantees into my tailback position...that money would upgrade other more important positions...and its not just about  preventing you from adding other players because they have a lot of money...but putting that much money into that position might cause you to get a C+ guard or a C WR instead a A- or B+ guy

im not hating on the move....its just a philosophical difference btwn what id do and what chips doing...demarco murray is fine I just think you can get the same production out of a much cheaper player and you aren't getting more production than shady....basically imo if you love the demarco murray/Matthews deals then its because you love kiko Alonso cause hes the one that turns it into the eagles favor significantly if he is healthy and plays well

Really don't understand how we were not better served just drafting a RB. It shows a lack of awareness on our part to lock up Mathews then take Murray as well.

Did we not know we could sign Murray?

Would we sign Mathews today knowing we already had Murray?

I think we clearly would not, but the company line is going to be yes. I am interested to see the draft.

Before the Foles trade I was very on board with what Chip and company have been doing. I was a fan of Bradford's abilities 2 years ago as I'm sure many others were. In the past week we have gone from fiscally responsible to Phillies like spewtards. I need to drink whatever Jenkins is drinking. MMMMM money!

its still way too much for a rb even with just murray....but not signing Matthews would remove it from being dumb to just being unecessary
