Smear has to close 48 games to vest his 2016 if he stays with the Phils.  Between their suckitude and a desire to slide Giles into that position, there's not really a guarantee that he will get to that number, so the trade may be the surest way to get the money.

Assuming the vesting option applies, he is still owed $26 million.  How much of that will the Phils swallow to get rid of him?

I saw in the paper today that fan voting is on right now for the Phillies wall of fame inductee this year....does anyone know what the % of fan voting it is?...I hope to god not 100%

Don't think it works like that. I think the fan votes make the ballot (top 5 or 10 guys), and then a committee picks the actual inductee.
