Just like they chastise players for signing bad contracts, the Eagles offered him that contract...so...horrible contract doesn't apply. But he was a knucklehead...just wish he would have substituted a little more 'business' into his act. Maybe things would have been different.

yep...that way cancels out getting sproles....altho to be fair the pimp move was all chip...in fact when it comes to free agents i think its prob 95% chip...the focus on special teamers which has turned out magnificiently - chip....versatile slot/safety malcolm jenkins - chip...chip basically tells howie who he wants and howie trys to get him...sometimes it works as in this year...sometimes it doesnt...2013 was a disaster

the draft is different...chip certainly has input but its the scouts and howie who see these guys in person and watch the hundreds of hours of film...chip still wants his certain kind of player but the responsibility to pick the right player lays at the feet of the scouts and howie much more than in free agency

this was by far more of the reason then his contract.

his contract was not even big by nfl standards...plus with the salary cap growing as much as it is the contract was not an issue at all

imo thats pretty much all howie especially it being a defensive player....smith fits the chip mold of being versatile and long....but chip just has preferences in a certain kind of player....howie is the guy who makes the call on who that player is
