I didn't really follow Buffalo or know much about Byrd.

Looking at it again, capwise I think they can cut Carey Williams this week (today is the first day of the league year iirc) and avoid his base being guaranteed. There would be almost no net change between the dead money and cap savings, so it's feasible to sign another CB and cut Williams.

Also looking ahead, Bradley only signed a 2 year deal so he will be a FA at the end of this year. So although they have no safeties on the roster now except Wolff (who I wouldn't trust to start), if they get rid of Williams now or next off season they won't have starting CBs either for next year. Really they could go either way with going after a top CB or S.

Byrd would be a nice signing, though may not get the money he's looking for. Gil Pycelle Brandt claims Byrd a bit overrated and has had an unusual number of lucky ints by being in the right place at the right time. I'd be just as happy with TJ Ward. Still, there's another level of competent safeties like Bethea and Clemons that would work fine.

I don't think they have any intention of moving Boykin out of the slot regardless and I thought Fletcher was definitely better than Williams, especially once the D started to gel.
