thing is, their worst are so much better than average, that we're all kind of doomed to watch it, eventually

It was one of my favorite movies the last six months.

I believe you. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. I thought it was fine. Almost exactly what I expected, but it didn't blow me away.

42 - avoided turning into melodramatic tv type movie which often these kinds of pictures end up being...harrison ford as branch dickey was excellent...i dont get how jonah hill was nominated for moneyball but ford got zero oscar buzz for a much better performance in a baseball movie

Thought 42 was a huge swing and a miss. All the ingredients were there to make one of the greatest baseball movies of all time but the film was really mediocre. The setting blew, never had that old time feeling. None of the performances were worth talking about. They took one of the greatest sports stories ever and made it boring. The film lacked emotion which is really hard to do. Thought the one redeeming quality the film had was the baseball scenes were decent...sports movies like to cheese up their action scenes but they played it well.

I watched DirtyWars.

Can anyone explain to me how he had no clue what JSOC was?

Good expose on how they were operating at such an expanded level with no checks and balances, and more or less as mercenaries.

agree with this, minus the lame swing and a miss line.

a genuinely boring movie that was essentially an MOW.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

spectacular now - fantastic modern day version of a john hughes movie...great lead performance by the kid....might be my favorite movie of last year.....extra pts for bubbles having a small part and philly being involved...maybe i missed them saying it but I spent the whole movie trying to figure out where it took place

8.5/10

questioning darwin - you can pretty much guess what this hbo doc is about....it doesnt reveal anything new but it more focuses on the "new" creationism movement which is the young earth crazies....these people are extra special...of course ken ham has a big part....of all the talk of illegal aliens and self deportation and terrorism ect....how the farg is australian maniac allowed in our borders...him teaching his bullshtein to our youth is worse than any terrorism threat to our country.....this one cat in the film literally said "if it stated in the bible that 2+2=5 then i would have to go with that"

7/10

the loving story - another hbo doc about the historic loving supreme court case that made it illegal for states to have laws against interracial marriage....it was a little long and got boring at times....the most amazing thing about it is all this archival footage they had...tons of home videos and pictures of this family from bum farg virgina from the 50's and 60's...funny irony in the story as well in that the 18 year black girl from the south was the outgoing intelligent and "articulate" one and the white redneck husband could barely form sentences

Lego movie was ok. Some funny parts and a lot of well known voices. Highlight of the film was the millennium falcon cameo

enough said. - new leader in the 2013 clubhouse....perfect relationship movie in the woody allen mode...brilliant script delivered by two awesome leads in gandolfini and JLD....all the supporting characters were completely on point as well....the perfect balance of bittersweet...kinda crazy that gandolfini finally burys tony soprano here as he plays an unseen before character in his resume but he gives it just before he actually gets buried

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Trading Places is on Comedy Central, I always have it on in the background when it's on. It's just one of those movies. Was always curious about the ending and how they pulled what they did off, here's a decent explanation:

that has always bugged me, thanks for the link.  i didn't realize they were short selling, it makes sense now.
