So...does Shady win the MVP at the end of the season?

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Sgt PSN

If the Eagles win the division, he'd be a legitimate candidate.  But if the Eagles are on the couch come January, then no.

General_Failure

Team MVP, or most valuable player not named Manning?

The man. The myth. The legend.

lol yeah on what planet would he be mvp over manning....he probably going to throw for over FIFTY touchdowns

generally for a rb you need to get a huge td or yardage total....like in the 20's for touchdowns (but minimum 15) or 2000+ for rush yards or 2300 total yards...theres been exceptions but not for at least 20 years and most likely in a down year for qb numbers....certainly not in a year where a qb breaks an all time touchdown record

for god sakes shady has less rushing touchdowns than eddie farging lacy

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

It was brought up as a possibility by the talking heads on all the networks after the Detroit game, and it seems to still being discussed now. Shady's probably finishing with around 2200 total yards assuming Chip doesn't ignore him for Chris Polk these last two games...lack of scoring definitely hurts though. Hard to believe he's only scored 8 times with the way he's running this season.

Before the season I said if the Eagles miraculously make the playoffs, Shady wins MVP... but I had no idea Peyton would have the best season of any QB all time. He wins and it's not even close. When was the last time a RB even won MVP? Shaun Alexander when he had 25 TDs?

Munson

Pretty sure AP won it last year...at least I think he did.

It's actually not as rare as I thought it might be...from 1993 til 2012, 7 RB's have won (with one share)...so about a 3rd of the time.

I'm guessing it ends up Peyton, Shady, Charles in that order...maybe people make a case for Brady considering what he's done with all those injuries.

running backs win it but with a few exceptions they dont win it without having special numbers and nothing about shady this year is special

assuming he doesnt go wild the last two weeks and get like 500-600 yards total offense or some shtein

emmitt in 1993 was a huge exception...but i think what won it for him was that he had one of the most special games ever....the shoulder game at the meadowlands

Foles has a better shot than Shady and his chances are nil.

Peyton wins it going away maybe even unanimously.

Spent a little time wondering who my top 5 MVP candidates are and how I'd rank them:

Brady -  No way the Pats are contending without him this year.
Alex Smith - Yeah, I said it.  And yeah, I'm putting him this high because farg you.  The Chiefs didn't overhaul their roster this year, it's basically the same roster from the 2-14 team from last year + Alex Smith.
Shady - He's excelling in this style of offense, but a lack of consistency will probably hurt him with voters.
Jamal Charles - He'll probably end up as the Comeback Player of the Year as a consolation prize, but he's very much worthy of MVP consideration.
Peyton Manning - The Broncos are a playoff team with or without Manning.  They just wouldn't be as fun to watch without him.  With him, they're a 13 win team.  Put an Alex Smith or Nick Foles or Josh McCown in there and they still win 10 games.

Of course, Peyton's probably going to win it because most people assume that great stats is the same thing as being most valuable.  Whatevs.

I agree with were you're coming from with Smith. I feel the same way about Foles. With Vick starting the Eagles suck and are no were near the division title. With Foles they are a contender. Shady has been off the hook but lack of scoring is the big stat that would hurt him with voters imo, and it seems that stats are what they look at the most. I point too Peyton with 51 td's and over 5 thousand yards. It's hard to argue against a record breaking year until you look at what players like Smith, Brady, Shady and Foles really mean to the success of their team.

If Peyton Manning is worth 3 more wins than someone else you list as an MVP candidate, that makes him the MVP. Why does it matter how good their teams are? He would improve any team you could put him on, beyond the abilities of any other player.

If there's a Biggest Difference to His Team award, maybe it should go to someone else. The Most Valuable Player in the league in 2013 is Peyton Manning and it isn't even close.
