Titus Young, the troubled former Lions receiver who has been arrested three times this month and has been in jail since May 11, appeared in court today but refused to address the judge.

According to USA Today, the interaction between Young and Judge Andre Manssourian went like this:

Judge: "Good morning, sir."

Young: No reply.

Judge: "Can you hear me?"

Young: No reply.

Judge: "Are you Titus Demetrius Young?"

Young: No reply.

When Young refused to even confirm his name, the judge called the attorneys over and had a sidebar discussion with them, during which time Young continued to stand silently. At one point Young's father, who was in the courtroom, called out to him, but Young still did not respond. Young's attorney later said that Young was exercising his right to remain silent

Titus Young needs a reality show ASAP.

Titus is out of jail.

His high school coach in Los Angeles, E.C. Robinson, remembers seeing his former player last Christmas, when the coach's wife had to remind Young to turn around the ball cap he had on backward, and pull up his sagging pants. He was also going on about how he was better than All-Pro teammate Calvin Johnson in Detroit.

Young's behavior was much more alarming a couple of months later. Robinson said his daughter had to grab Young to keep him from wandering into traffic in front of their house, and the coach said Young didn't even know the St. Louis Rams had released him 11 days after the Lions did the same thing because of his erratic behavior.

"He shouldn't be out on the streets," Robinson said. "The day he left my house, I was scared. I mean, you've got a loose cannon out there that could go off anytime."

Ocho gets jail time

...Under the terms of the agreement, Johnson's probation would have been extended to December 21, and he would have performed 25 hours of community service.

"You better thank your lawyer.  He did a great job for you," Broward Circuit Court Judge Kathleen McHugh told Johnson after accepting the agreement.

Johnson responded by slapping attorney Adam Swickle on the butt.  Which prompted the judge to call the whole thing off.

She believed Johnson wasn't taking the situation seriously, so she rejected the plea deal and sentenced him to 30 days in jail.

Johnson pleaded no contest last year to battery of his wife, who has since divorced him.  He was cut by the Dolphins in the aftermath of the arrest.
