with the new year about to start imo these are the positions to monitor....there are other places such as a #1 WR that could arguably be deemed as or more important as many of these but it isnt as big a question....all positions arent necessarily going to be filled from outside the roster but the way i see it these are the spots that should be most followed and filled in as we go forward thru FA/draft/training camp/preseason

TE/H Back - james casey

Right Tackle ____________
Right Guard _____________

Nose - sopo/dixon
DE ______________
SAM - connor barwin

SS - kenny phillips
FS - nate allen
CB - cary williams
CB - bradley fletcher
CB/slot - brandon boykin

updated

looks like they dont feel comfortable with moving boykin outside as neither fletcher nor williams is a slot guy...be interesting to see if this is 100% kosher with bb

in the draft now these seem like the best options

1. draft one of the tackles (joker - fisher - johnson) and you fill the RT and RG slots with one pick

2. louie louis - DE is still a huge hole unless you are a cedric thornton fan...at NT sopo is not only a short time fix but its questionable as to whether hes a full time fix...louie louie can play either of these spots and would be a great fit

3. dion jordan - i didnt list the position but opposite connor barwin is a trent cole brandon graham mix.....neither of these guys is a suitable 3-4 backer imo so to me dion jordan would make a lot of sense

to be continued.......

Chung is the SS and Allen/Phillips will be the FS

i disagree.....chung will be given every opportunity and he could def win a job especially with phillips injury history....but the best players will start and thats kenny phillips if hes healthy...nate allen is a free all the way and chung is a strong all the way....phillips can and has played both

lot can change...btwn now and camp....nate allen could get released for example or be horrible in camp...but as of now imo thats how it will play out and ideally thats what you would want as allen and phillips are the two best talents in the mix

I still think they're gonna draft a SS to challenge Chung since Coleman doesn't belong anywhere near this team.  I'm cool with either Phillips or Allen starting because the other one is eventually gonna be back there anyway

Seabiscuit36

Coleman is fine on Special Teams, but no where else.

Official: training camp is moving to NovaCare, with a few free practices at the Linc

Figures.  I'm like an hour from Lehigh and now they move it all the way down to Philly.  No biggie though, it's still a hell of a lot more accessible to me now that it has been for years.  Was parking free at Lehigh?  Wonder if they're going to charge for parking at the Linc.

reid or elam in the second round is possible i guess if they really like one or both of them but i think the free agency period takes safety off the table for at least the first three rounds...plus they dont need to draft anyone to challenge chung...they have kenny phillips on the roster

you have three young guys in allen chung and phillips...two of those three will battle for the two starting spots and the loser will be a great depth guy...all three have questions:

allen - can he play

chung - can he play and stay healthy.....since phillips was signed his injuries have kind of overshadowed the fact that patrick chung has missed more games in the last two years than phillips has

phillips - can he stay healthy

they now have one year to answer these questions

theres no point in going to practices at the linc....the whole point of going to camp is the proximity to the field

edit: unless they are going to let fans on the field for the practices

I'd mod day still a go?

BigEd76

That's up to Dave, but I could see it being one of the limited invite-only ones at NovaCare

I could see them granting free admission into the lower bowl and then charging a fee for on-field seating.
